There has been a growing interest in the examination of the steady state of simultaneous bilinguals. An understanding of what leads to the possible weaknesses in the grammar of early bilinguals can contribute to our understanding of the possible causes of the apparent characteristic ‘failures’ in second language acquisition (Montrul 2008). Spanish has a gender feature for nouns (Carroll 1989) and gender agreement for determiners and adjectives. Early childhood education (ECE) in Australia will soon experience a ‘radical makeover.’ In 2008, all Australian governments made a commitment through the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) that by 2013, all children in the year before formal schooling will have access to high quality early childhood education programs delivered by degreequalified early childhood teachers, for 15 hours per week, 40 weeks of the year, in public, private and community-based preschools and child care. Rasheed Within the last twenty years, some educational researchers initiated an emphasis to study the accomplishments and contributions of African-American women in higher education. Although they were marginally recognized, some African-American women forged into uncharted territories by providing examples of administrative leadership in post-secondary settings. Their triumphs and failures have gone unnoticed, leaving a vacant space in the chronicles of history in higher education. This Carsey brief reveals that students in rural areas and small towns have less access to higher-level mathematics courses than students in urban settings, which results in serious educational consequences, including lower scores on assessment tests and fewer qualified students entering science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) job pipelines.

Research shows that plagiarism is a problem not only for English language learners but also for students whose first language is English. The general purpose of this meeting was to continue the dialog we started on 11/18. A second major purpose is to explore the possibility of holding an Equity Council Student Leadership Conference at URI's W. Alton Jones Campus in early February.

The focus of the retreat was to gather data in order to have a sense of the current climate/culture present at URI. To conduct focus groups at Alton Jones. The forums/ focus groups addressed issues revolving around the following areas: Academics/Curricular issues/concerns, Housing and Residential Life, Student Leaders and Student Groups, Faculty Diversity Training/Interventions, and Campus Climate.
