The Remote Online Initiative: A Legislative Strategy For Rural Workforce Development In Utah, Amanda D. Ali, Paul A. Hill

The Remote Online Initiative (ROI) was a legislative response to growing unemployment and limited job opportunities in rural Utah. The ROI program seeks to reduce unemployment in rural Utah communities via remote job placements. Since 2018, the ROI program has expanded to include three flagship certificate courses – Certified Remote Work Professional (CRWP), Certified Remote Work Leader (CRWL), and Certified Tech Sales Professional (CTSP). To date, evaluation results show that 411 Utah graduates found remote jobs after completing the CRWP course, 55% of participants said their department created a remote work environment and hired, on average, 19 remote employees upon …

The What’s Up Down South economic summit is southern Utah’s largest business gathering. The event provides the business community with economic insights to assist them in making informed decisions. USU Extension evaluated the 27th annual What's Up Down South economic summit. Results showed the event was an effective platform for disseminating information and advancing knowledge on economic and business topics. Participants felt the summit provided a valuable experience to the business community. These findings support the continuation of the summit's information dissemination activities in the future.

Compared to urban counties, Utah's rural counties experienced high levels of unemployment. Informed by a statewide needs assessment, Utah State University Extension developed a remote work leadership course to equip business leaders with knowledge and skills to create remote jobs as a solution to rural unemployment. This descriptive evaluation study collected data from course participants (N = 62). Findings showed short-term outcomes were achieved; participants experienced increases in knowledge and skills and had more positive intentions toward creating remote jobs and hiring employees from rural counties. Extension professionals can design and evaluate their programs using the framework in this study.

Extension can play a key role in providing food waste education nation-wide. This study is the first to evaluate the effects of environmentally focused lesson plans on elementary student knowledge and perceptions regarding food waste. Herein we provide suggestions on concepts to teach students for the greatest impact on food waste reduction. We also provide avenues to incorporate food waste education into existing Extension programming. We hope the study can inspire and inform further food waste program development, assessment, and implementation through Extension.

This study explores the ways in which public schools are evaluated and the results are reported in North Carolina. Currently using a formula that calculates a summative score based on academic achievement and academic growth, the impact of poverty and the complexity of school evaluation is investigated using demographic and testing data from schools across the state. Furthermore, recommendations to alter current practices of school evaluation and reporting as well as suggestions for future research are discussed based on this study’s findings.

Health education projects (HEP) incorporate all the educational projects of the Portuguese elementary and secondary schools in order to respond to four key areas: mental health and violence prevention; food education and physical activity; addictive behaviors and dependencies; and affection and sexuality education. This study aimed at identifying the effects of HEP as they are perceived by teachers and students. A multicase study was developed in five schools in the municipality of Castelo Branco, Portugal. In this study, I aimed to discover Iranian medical sciences students’ evaluation of using a Learning Management System (LMS) in teaching English and to collect their suggestions for using the system more efficiently. To collect data, I conducted semi-structured interviews with 38 students. The study was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) Cilacap, MAN Kroya, and MAN Majenang. Hospital systems interested in improving patient experience and physician engagement may look to physician communication skills training (CST) as a means of improving both. This study examines a 7.5-hour, multi-specialty, hospital-wide physician CST workshop in a large academic hospital system and its effects on participants’ self-efficacy, attitudes, and behaviors related to communicating with patients. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (Higher Order Thinking Skills/HOTS) siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal PISA berdasarkan indikator yang telah disusun. Kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi dalam penelitian ini meliputi kemampuan logika dan penalaran, analisis, evaluasi, serta kreasi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk: (1) menghasilkan model pengembangan evaluasi program pembelajar'an tahfiẓ al-Quran diberi nama Coni P2, (2) menghasilkan teknik pelaksanaan evaluasi program pembelajaran tahfiẓ al-Qur'an, dan (3) menghasilkan struktur komponen dan indikator model evaluasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi (1) tingkat capaian UU no. 14 tahun 2005 tentang guru dan dosen, (2) beban mengajar guru SMK yang telah disertifikasi, dan (3) dampak sertifikasi ter-hadap kinerja guru di mata masyarakat. Metode penelitian yang di-gunakan deskriptif, populasi sebanyak 954 orang guru, sampel di-pilih sebanyak 247 orang dengan teknik random sampling.
