A Study Of Self-Perceived Current And Desired Career Stages Of Federal Government Engineers And Public School Educators In The Central Florida Area, Dennis Stephan Duke
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
This study investigated the perceptions of public school educators and Federal Government engineers in the Central Florida area to determine their self-perceived current and desired career stages (Dalton, Thompson and Price, 1977). The influences of age, education and tenure variables on these perceptions and on the employee's preference for a technical or managerial career track were also examined. The rationale for the study is based upon findings in the literature which indicate that both occupations are experiencing motivation and retention problems caused by the requirement to leave classrooms or technical engineering positions and enter management ranks in order to gain …

A five-point ordinal scale was used to measure the educators' degree of acceptance for each factor. There were 14 Central Florida school districts that participated in the survey including 433 teachers, 211 principals, and 12 superintendents. The …

Student Characteristics Affecting Student Attitudes To The Evaluation Of Instructors, John P. Callahan
Student Characteristics Affecting Student Attitudes To The Evaluation Of Instructors, John P. Callahan
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
Declining enrollments and continuing tuition increases are having major impact on all universities. It is a commonly accepted fact that the quality of a university can be directly related to the quality of its faculty. With this assumption in mind, a university must then determine the best method for evaluating the teaching effectiveness of its faculty members. The study is an examination of certain student characteristics that might affect the attitudes of students when evaluating instructors. Seven individual student characteristics (sex, age, academic level, major, nationality, teaching preference and leadership experience) were examined to determine if there was any relationship …
The Design Of An Internal Resource Allocation Model For Use In Higher Education, Ann Clark
The Design Of An Internal Resource Allocation Model For Use In Higher Education, Ann Clark
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
A computer model has been developed for the purpose of allocating funds, by department, within a university. This model categorizes each class as one of three types -- lecture, problem solving, or laboratory. A standard class size is assigned to each type -- 40, 25, and 10 respectively. Combining the previous years head count for each class with the credit-hour value of each class, a faculty position count for every department is generated.
Administrative positions, staff positions, operating expense, and operating capital funds are calculated using various combinations of factors involving student credit hours, faculty positions, and class type. Factors …
