Supporting Space Systems Design Via Systems Dependency Analysis Methodology, Cesare Guariniello
Supporting Space Systems Design Via Systems Dependency Analysis Methodology, Cesare Guariniello
Open Access Dissertations
The increasing size and complexity of space systems and space missions pose severe challenges to space systems engineers. When complex systems and Systems-of-Systems are involved, the behavior of the whole entity is not only due to that of the individual systems involved but also to the interactions and dependencies between the systems. Dependencies can be varied and complex, and designers usually do not perform analysis of the impact of dependencies at the level of complex systems, or this analysis involves excessive computational cost, or occurs at a later stage of the design process, after designers have already set detailed requirements, …
Essays In Empirical Corporate Finance, Francisco Marcet
Essays In Empirical Corporate Finance, Francisco Marcet
Doctor of Business Administration Dissertations
This dissertation presents three essays in empirical corporate finance. In the first two essays, I examine the effect of analyst coverage network on US firms' corporate decisions and stock return comovement in emerging markets. The third essay discusses the importance of performance pay and CEO functional background in explaining firm performance in the short- and long-run. In the first chapter, which is a joint work with Armando Gomes, Radha Gopalan and Mark Leary, we show that sell-side analysts play an important role in propagating corporate financial policy choices, such as leverage and equity issuance decisions across firms. Using exogenous characteristics …
Incorporating Network Theory And Visulatisation Into Cluster Analysis: A Hybrid Methodology Applied To European Ict Clusters, Eoin M. Byrne
Incorporating Network Theory And Visulatisation Into Cluster Analysis: A Hybrid Methodology Applied To European Ict Clusters, Eoin M. Byrne
Theses
Industry clusters (Porter, 1990; 1998a) have been the focus of numerous studies, economic strategies and policy globally (Ketels et al., 2013). Cluster analysis has focused on identifying and mapping clusters yet there is a need to develop a deeper understanding of how clusters operate and to visualise cluster ecosystems. Linkages and networks are a key component of clusters and thus, network theory has the potential to enrich the literature and analysis of clusters. This research addresses three objectives: 1. Review cluster theory and analysis techniques to investigate the potential to apply network theory and visualisation to cluster analysis; 2. Develop …
