Small Business Cybersecurity: A Loophole To Consumer Data, Matthew R. Espinosa
The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race and Social Justice
Small businesses and small minority owned businesses are vital to our nation’s economy; therefore legislation, regulation, and policy has been created in order to assist them in overcoming their economic stability issues and ensure they continue to serve the communities that rely on them. However, there is not a focus on regulating nor assisting small businesses to ensure their cybersecurity standards are up to par despite them increasingly becoming a victim of cyberattacks that yield high consequences. The external oversight and assistance is necessary for small businesses due to their lack of knowledge in implementing effective cybersecurity policies, the fiscal …

Creating Stability In The International Fashion Industry By Using Corporate Structures And Conglomerates, Joyce Boland-Devito Esq.
DePaul Business & Commercial Law Journal
Abstract:
This paper will analyze the challenges currently facing the global fashion industries as consumers change their shopping habits. During these tumultuous times, retailers should re-evaluate their organizational structures. According to the Forbes Global 2000, apparel companies make up 29 of those top businesses. For instance, a corporate structure helps businesses like TJX Companies (headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts) – which owns TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and Sierra Trading Post – to operate efficiently and maintain over 1000 stores in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria, The Netherlands and Australia. [Review Of The Book Why The Garden Club Couldn’T Save Youngstown: The Transformation Of The Rust Belt], Alexander Colvin
Alexander Colvin
[Excerpt] As economic crisis once again grips the land, it is valuable to ponder the lessons of attempts to recover from past downturns. For example, the economic dislocations of the 1970s and 1980s transformed the industrial heartland of America into the “Rust Belt” and forced communities to grapple with how to recover from a lost standard of living revolving around good paying jobs in industries like steel production that were unlikely ever to return. In his interesting and highly readable book, Sean Safford examines the diverging economic trajectories of two similar rust belt communities, Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Youngstown, Ohio. Both …

It's Time For A Good Hard Look In The Mirror: The Corporate Law Example, John A. Barrett, Jr.
Fordham Journal of Corporate & Financial Law
This Article asserts that the move from the industrial age to the
information age represents a fundamental change to our society on
such a widespread basis that the legal order must reexamine the
premises about how our society functions, assessing whether
foundational elements of U.S. Common Law remain valid. This
Article first confronts briefly the continuing acceptance of certain
foundational premises in contract and intellectual property law,
illustrating that such premises are no longer supported by the
realities of modern society. With fundamental change challenging
multiple areas of law in the information age, this problem is worthy
of widespread inquiry …
