The Threat Of Long-Arm Jurisdiction To Electronic Commerce, Robert J. Aalberts, Anthony M. Townsend, Michael E. Whitman

Faculty and Research Publications

Unfortunately for those whose businesses rely on the Internet, an increasing amount of legal conflict is also arising in reaction to this new business medium. As attorneys and the courts attempt to sort out the Internet’s legal status quo, both are considering such pressing substantive issues as electronic contracts, privacy, trademark, copyright, defamation, computer crimes, censorship, and taxation. It is imperative that information system professionals become aware of how evolving Internet law will affect the medium they are charged with administrating. An informed IS community is also much more capable of mounting legal and political challenges to law that might …

C. William Pollard Papers

Delivered at the Yale Berkeley Seminar (hosted by Berkeley Divinity School at Yale) in New Haven, CT, this speech asks how Christians might bridge the gulf between work and faith (or God and profit). In this framework, the corporate firm may be construed as an institution of moral formation.

Confounds In The Measurement Of Predictive Expectations, Richard A. Spreng, Robert Mackoy, Cornelia Dröge Jan 1998

Confounds In The Measurement Of Predictive Expectations, Richard A. Spreng, Robert Mackoy, Cornelia Dröge

Scholarship and Professional Work - Business

Given the importance of predictive expectations in consumer satisfaction models, confounds in the measurement of expectations could result in misspecified models. Results of two empirical studies indicate that consumers interpret the word "expect" in numerous ways. A large minority of consumers interpret "expect" to mean "desire." The magnitude of the resulting confounding effect is illustrated by comparing results using a measure of expectations alone with results obtained when using a measure of expectations together with a measure of desires in a side-by-side format.
