The Impact Of Interwoven Integration Practices On Supply Chain Value Addition And Firm Performance, Shashi -, Madjid Tavana, Amir Shabani, Rajwinder Singh

Business Systems and Analytics Faculty Work

Drawing on the supply chain (SC) management literature, this article conceptualizes and empirically tests a framework that shows how both external and internal integration practices are significant and positively associated with SC value addition and firm performance. The framework also tests the impact of value addition as a reinforcing factor on firm performance. The outcome of this investigation is interesting for both SC researchers and practitioners because the current SC integration literature is conflicting. A structural equation modeling technique, using a sample of 366 large-scale manufacturing companies based in India, is considered in this paper to test the framework. The …

The Role Of Prior Sales Experience Of Buyers And Duration In Buyer-Seller Relationships, Scott C. Ambrose, Nwamaka A. Anaza, Brian N. Rutherford

Scott C. Ambrose

This paper examines the impact that a buyer’s prior sales experience and the duration of the buyer-salesperson relationship has on the satisfaction and commitment linkages established within the literature. First, two key facets of satisfaction (social and economic) are linked to buyer’s commitment to the salesperson. Next, buyer-salesperson relationship duration is examined as an influencer between the satisfaction and commitment linkages. Following this, the study shifts its focus to examine if and how buyers with prior sales experience view the buyer-salesperson relationship different than buyers without prior sales experience. Findings of the study highlight the importance of developing our understanding …

Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making With Multilevel Criteria To Evaluate Retailer Financial Performance For Supply Chain Management, Yu-Jie Wang, Tzeu-Chen Han Jun 2019

Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making With Multilevel Criteria To Evaluate Retailer Financial Performance For Supply Chain Management, Yu-Jie Wang, Tzeu-Chen Han

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

Retailers are important components in a supply chain because they are closer to the end users than are other industrial processes of the chain. Therefore, retailer selection must be carefully examined, especially when considering the financial performance of supply chain management. Generally, the evaluation of retailer financial performance in a vague and uncertain environment is based on multilevel criteria. In the past, many researchers, including Chen, Liang, Raj and Kumar, Wang and Lee, and Chou, proposed models under uncertain environments to evaluate fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (FMCDM) problems. They evaluated FMCDM problems based on a single level, and resolved the ties …

Performance Effects Of Supply Chain Integration: The Relative Impacts Of Two Competing National Culture Frameworks, Torsten Doering, Jurriaan De Jong, Nallan Suresh

Articles & Book Chapters

The effects of supply chain integration on operational performance have been investigated in past research. However, this relationship has not been tested in the context of national culture, which forms the major objective of this study. Furthermore, a second objective is to identify the elements of national culture that have a significant moderating effect on this relationship. Following this line of inquiry, a third objective is to uniquely investigate the relative efficacy of the Hofstede and GLOBE national culture frameworks. Data from the fifth survey round of the Global Manufacturing Research Group (GMRG) from 1,017 manufacturing plants in 14 countries …

Installed Base Management Versus Selling In Monopolistic And Competitive Environments, Shantanu Bhattacharya, Andreas Robotis, Wassenhove Luk N. V. Van Mar 2019

Installed Base Management Versus Selling In Monopolistic And Competitive Environments, Shantanu Bhattacharya, Andreas Robotis, Wassenhove Luk N. V. Van

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

This paper compares the policy of selling a product to that of installed base management, in which the manufacturer leases the product to consumers, and bundles repair and maintenance services along with the product. We compare the two policies in a monopolistic setting when a firm uses either one of the policies, and when both policies are used by a single firm. We then compare the policies under competition first when two firms use identical products, and when two firms use vertically differentiated products. Our findings indicate that the selling option dominates the installed base option in a monopolistic environment, …

Assessment Of Adaptability Of A Supply Chain Trading Agent’S Strategy: Evolutionary Game Theory Approach, Yoon Sang Lee, Riyaz T. Sikora Jan 2019

Assessment Of Adaptability Of A Supply Chain Trading Agent’S Strategy: Evolutionary Game Theory Approach, Yoon Sang Lee, Riyaz T. Sikora

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

With the increase in the complexity of supply chain management, the use of intelligent agents for automated trading has gained popularity (Collins, Arunachalam, B, et al. 2006). The performance of supply-chain agents depends on not just the market environment (supply and demand patterns) but also on what types of other agents they are competing with. For designers of such agents it is important to ascertain that their agents are robust and can adapt to changing market and competitive environments. However, to date there has not been any work done that assesses the adaptability of a trading agent’s strategy in the …
