Stochastic Shocks In A Two-Sector Solow Model, Simone Marsiglio

We study a stochastic, discrete-time, two-sector growth model à la Solow (1956) characterised by perpetual growth. Assuming that exogenous i.i.d. shocks hit the physical production sector, we show that the capital dynamics can be converted, through an appropriate log-transformation, into an iterated function system converging to an invariant distribution supported on a Cantor set.

Population Dynamics And Utilitarian Criteria In The Lucas - Uzawa Model, Simone Marsiglio, Davide La Torre

This paper introduces population growth in the Uzawa-Lucas model, analyzing the implications of the choice of the welfare criterion on the model's outcome. Traditional growth theory assumes population growth to be exponential, but this is not a realistic assumption (see Brida and Accinelli, 2007). We model exogenous population change by a generic function of population size. We show that a unique non-trivial equilibrium exists and the economy converges towards it along a saddle path, independently of population dynamics. Supplier evaluation and selection problems are inherently multi-criteria decision problems. Numerous analytical techniques ranging from simple weighted scoring to complex mathematical programming approaches have been proposed to solve these problems. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) has been used to evaluate suppliers' performance when there are multiple inputs and outputs in the supplier selection problem. The DEA determines the relative efficiencies of multiple suppliers. These relative efficiencies are then used to provide benchmarking data for reducing the number of suppliers. A Note On Demographic Shocks In A Multi-Sector Growth Model, Simone Marsiglio, Davide La Torre

We introduce demographic shocks in a multi-sector endogenous growth model, a-la Uzawa-Lucas. We show that an analytical solution of the stochastic problem can be found, under the restriction that the capital share equals both the inverse of the intertemporal elasticity of substitution and the degree of altruism. We show that uncertainty lowers the optimal levels of consumption and the physical capital stock, while they do not affect the share of human capital employed in production.

In a study seeking to understand destination choice, focus group participants consisting of travellers, mentioned the importance of ‘bragging rights’. Additionally, tourism marketers when interviewed about destination choice also referred to bragging rights. An online search of ‘travel’, ‘tourism’ and ‘bragging rights’ revealed thousands of links. Despite this, bragging rights has received limited attention in tourism research. This paper defines bragging rights, discusses its relevance to tourism and proposes a conceptual model suggesting how bragging rights can be managed by destination marketers to enhance destination image and consequently increase visitation.

Supplier selection is the strategy adopted by the manufacturer, to evaluate and select suppliers, which can fulfil the requirements of the manufacturer. To this end, data envelopment analysis (DEA), as a multiple criteria decision-making tool, has been applied for several times. However, conventional DEA models cannot simultaneously consider dual-role and non-discretionary factors. The objective of this paper is to propose a DEA model for ranking suppliers in the presence of both dual-role factors and non-discretionary inputs.
