Innovazione Tecnologica, Organizzazione E Produttività Nella Manifattura Italiana: Evidenze Recenti Per L’Area Nec, Riccardo Cappelli, Nicola Matteucci

Nicola Matteucci

Profitability Analysis Of Listed Manufacturing Companies In Sri Lanka And Malaysia: An Empirical Investigation, Anura De Zoysa, Athula S. Manawaduge, Palli Mulla K A Chandrakumara

Faculty of Commerce - Papers (Archive)

This paper uses empirical data on 161 listed manufacturing companies in Sri Lankaand Malaysia over the period of 2006 to 2008, and compares the performance of thesecompanies against two commonly used financial performance indicators: Return onAssets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). The results indicate that during this periodSri Lankan manufacturing companies were considerably more profitable than theircounterparts in Malaysia in terms of ROA but less profitable in terms of ROE. It alsoidentifies a relatively weaker position of equity investments in the manufacturing sectorof Sri Lankan companies and attributes this to a number of factors, including: arelatively poor equity market, …

Automated Fixture Design For A Rapid Machining Process, Wutthigrai Boonsuk, Matthew C. Frank Jan 2009

Automated Fixture Design For A Rapid Machining Process, Wutthigrai Boonsuk, Matthew C. Frank

Faculty Research & Creative Activity

Rapid prototyping techniques for CNC machining have been developed in an effort to produce functional prototypes in appropriate materials. One of the major challenges for rapid machining is to develop an automatic fixturing system for securing the part during the machining process. The method proposed in this paper is the use of sacrificial fixturing, similar to the support structures in existing rapid processes like Stereolithography. During the machining process, sacrificial supports emerge incrementally and, at the end of the process, are the only entities connecting the part to the stock material. This paper presents methodologies for the design of sacrificial …

Globalization, Adjustment, And Employment Drivers, Winfred M. Villamil, Rachel C. Reyes

Angelo King Institute for Economic and Business Studies (AKI)

This study is a comparative analysis of the relative performance of two key industries in the Philippines during the period when the country liberalized trade. These industries are (1) the textile and garments industry and (2) the information and communications technology (ICT)-based industries consisting of the electronics industry and the business process outsourcing (BPO) services sector.

Strategies For Manufacturing In Southern China, Hilda M.S Lai, Domenic Sculli Jan 2009

Strategies For Manufacturing In Southern China, Hilda M.S Lai, Domenic Sculli

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

This paper investigates the structure of industrial and business network strategies in the global manufacturing environment based on empirical data from 87 manufacturing firms in the Pearl River Delta of Southern China. Relevant data was collected using a questionnaire approach and analyzed using appropriate statistical techniques. Hierarchical cluster analysis was employed to devise taxonomy for industrial network strategies. Three distinct clusters were identified: Network Integrators, Network Learners and Network Conformists. Results indicate that the former two clusters, though differing in the extent of scale, adopt a holistic approach in developing both intra- and inter-firm strategies and that the third cluster …
