The Traditional Sex-Stereotype Of A Job As A Moderator Variable For The Directionality Of Sex Biases In Performance Evaluation, Bernard Bena
The Traditional Sex-Stereotype Of A Job As A Moderator Variable For The Directionality Of Sex Biases In Performance Evaluation, Bernard Bena
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
Accurate and objective performance appraisals are absolutely necessary due to their utility in important personnel decisions such as promotion, demotion and training. This study examines the contaminating effects of sex bias on performance evaluations and it's relationship to the sex-stereotype of the job and levels of performance. Unlike previous studies, this study not only examines these effects at the extremes of performance, but at average levels as well. Also, unlike previous studies, the subjects empirically determined the sex-typed nature of the jobs and the levels of performance within those jobs rather than the experimenter having made a priori decisions. Hypothetical …

Nineteenth-Century Urbanization Patterns In The United States, Roger Riefler
Nineteenth-Century Urbanization Patterns In The United States, Roger Riefler
College of Business Faculty Publications
By viewing urban areas in the northeast quadrant of the United States as a system of cities, this paper attempts to isolate the common factors precipitating the overall pattern of urbanization in the nineteenth century. For the antebellum period commercial activity, both interregional and especially intraregional trade, appears to be the driving force generating urbanization. During the post-bellum period manufacturing comes to the fore as the prime factor allowing cities to grow at a rate exceeding that of their hinterland.

Grain Transportation Problems In Nebraska -- Causes And Cures. Proceedings Of The Nebraska Grain Transportation Seminar, Dale G. Anderson, Dean Linsenmeyer, Michael S. Turner
Faculty Publications: Agricultural Economics
The Nebraska feed grain and soybean harvest of 1979 was one which will not soon be forgotten by those who participated in its production and marketing. Yields and production broke all previous records. Record export demands for the crop placed record service requirements on transportation and handling systems. Record movements of grain from farms to elevators and to inland and export terminals were reported. At the same time, complaints of inadequate capacity to store and transport the grain were perhaps also of all-time record proportions. Corn and milo accumulated in open piles on farms and at country collection points. Problems …

The Landmarks Of Federal Hill: History And Legacy Of The Doctors Gorfine, Joseph R. Muratore
Joseph Muratore Papers: Newspaper Columns
Ask anyone who has had any contact with Federal Hill during the past 50 years about the Doctors Gorfine, and you’re sure to have some reaction.
Either of a childhood dental experience or their parents first exposure to dentistry.
Or should you be talking with an elder, they'll remind you when it only cost 50 cents to have a tooth extracted and that sometimes people couldn’t afford it.
But their tooth was extracted and other dental work done and that later they paid the doctors Gorfine when they were able to.
It was this faith in a community and pioneering …
Eastern Wheatbelt Farm Economics, Peter Eckersley
Eastern Wheatbelt Farm Economics, Peter Eckersley
Soil conservation survey collection
This booklet outlines the current cost structure and profitability of a farm in the eastern wheatbelt. Rather than being figures for an 'average farm', they reflect the use of practices widely recommended by the Department of Agriculture on a typical property in the area. This does not mean the Department of Agriculture believes every farm in the area should be run this way. The best way to run any particular farm depends on the resources and objectives of that farmer.
Economic Implications Of Alternative Dry-Bulk Fertilizer Supply Systems: A South-Central Nebraska Case Study, Mary Berglund, Dale G. Anderson
Economic Implications Of Alternative Dry-Bulk Fertilizer Supply Systems: A South-Central Nebraska Case Study, Mary Berglund, Dale G. Anderson
Historical Research Bulletins of the Nebraska Agricultural Experiment Station
This study analyzed the economic implications of alternative patterns of rail service for a case-study area in south-central Nebraska. Special attention was given to effects of branchline abandonments on the delivery system for dry-bulk fertilizer. The study was an extension of an earlier Nebraska track abandonment study which focused only on grain traffic. The purpose of the latest study was to establish the effect of including dry-bulk fertilizer, the major commodity moving into the area by rail, on the earlier results. The addition of fertilizer to the analysis did not appreciably change the outcome of the earlier grain-oriented study.

More Tenants Would Strengthen Downtown Retailing, Chester Smolski
More Tenants Would Strengthen Downtown Retailing, Chester Smolski
Smolski Texts
"One of the most obvious symptoms of our sick cities is the decline of downtown retailing. Everywhere vacant shops and empty upper floors remind us of an activity that was the mainstay of downtown vitality, and which today has increasingly shifted to the ubiquitous suburban mall, that notable merchandising technique."
International Tourism : Is This The Answer To Jamaica's Developmental Problem?, Geli M. Eldemire
International Tourism : Is This The Answer To Jamaica's Developmental Problem?, Geli M. Eldemire
FIU Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The years since World War II have witnessed a rapid growth in International Tourism consequent on improved technologies, increased affluence and leisure time in developed nations. Many of the poorer third World Nations lacking major marketable resources have opted for tourism as a developmental strategy hoping to draw some of the "free-spending" visitors to their shores thereby reducing the World's unequal distribution of wealth.
Tourism promises beneficial effects such as the generation of urgently needed foreign exchange, employment and promotes overall economic growth.
The objective of this thesis is to present information on the contribution of tourism when compared to …
