This culminating experience project explored online internships and video conferencing security. The research questions asked focus on the effectiveness of online versus in-person internships, internship curriculum, third-party internships, video-conferencing applications and their security, advantages of micro-internships, and benefits of internships to all stakeholders. Over the summer of 2020, I had the privilege to intern with Nestlé USA (NUSA), a sector of the multinational food and beverage processing conglomerate corporation that is headquartered in Vevey, Switzerland. This thesis examines how nonprofits can best prepare their interns and how interns can best prepare themselves for a role in engaging audiences through social media. Through a literature review on nonprofit social media and internships, a series of qualitative interviews with interns and supervisors, and my own lived experiences as a social media intern, I develop a handbook for nonprofit social media internships. The class was led by Dr. Vicki Dickinson, who oversaw every aspect of each particular case study. The topics covered in this thesis range from various fields and expanded my knowledge on many accounting ideas.
