Iso 9000 Internalization And Organizational Commitment - Implications For Process Improvement And Operational Performance, Cigdem Ataseven, Daniel I. Prajogo, Anand Nair

Business Faculty Publications

This study presents an investigation of the relationship between internalization of ISO 9000 practices and the development of intellectual capital within organizations. We posit that intellectual capital, which comprises of human capital, organizational capital, and social capital, leads to improved processes in an organization. Process improvement, in turn, results in superior operational performance. Using a sample of 321 ISO 9001 certified organizations, the hypothesized relationships are tested by means of the structural equation modeling technique. The results of this study lend strong support for the hypotheses and show that performance benefits from the internalization of ISO 9000 standards occur mainly …

The Impact Of Influence Tactics In Information System Development Projects: A Control-Loss Perspective, Ravi Narayanaswamy, Varun Grover, Raymond M. Henry

Information systems development (ISD) projects are prone to high levels of failure. One of the major reasons attributed to these failures is the inability to harmonize values held by a diverse set of participants in an environment that is characterized by uncertainty due to changing requirements. In this paper, we focus on a relational approach to achieve congruence between a project manager and a team member with respect to influence tactics. Constructs of perceptual congruence and communication congruence that reflect a level of agreement and degree of shared understanding between the project manager and team members are described. A congruence …

The Impact Of Slack Resources On High-Tech Ipos, Fariss-Terry Mousa, Richard Reed Jan 2013

The Impact Of Slack Resources On High-Tech Ipos, Fariss-Terry Mousa, Richard Reed

Business Faculty Publications

Research on organization slack has focused mainly on its effect in large publicly traded firms, but little work exists on the value of slack resources for other firms. Therefore, here, we address the question: Do slack resources matter in the case of initial public offerings (IPOs)? We argue that firms that possess financial, innovational, and managerial slack resources are sending a positive signal to potential investors regarding the quality of the IPO. Using a sample of high-tech IPOs, we find support for that contention.

The Impact Of Analyst-Induced Misinformation On The Requirements Elicitation Process, Radha Appan, Glenn J. Browne Jan 2012

The Impact Of Analyst-Induced Misinformation On The Requirements Elicitation Process, Radha Appan, Glenn J. Browne

Business Faculty Publications

Information requirements determination (IRD) is concerned with developing accurate requirements for a proposed system, primarily by eliciting information from users and other organizational stakeholders. In this paper we build and test theory concerning a significant threat to the accuracy of information requirements, termed the misinformation effect. Misinformation is distorted, false, or other erroneous or misleading information that does not reflect the true state of the world or state of mind of the person communicating the information. The misinformation effect refers to the tendency of people to recall misleading or false information introduced to them following an event instead of original …

An Implementation Of A Dynamic Partitioning Scheme For Web Pages, Timothy Arndt, Ben Blake, Brian Krupp, Janche Sang Jan 2012

An Implementation Of A Dynamic Partitioning Scheme For Web Pages, Timothy Arndt, Ben Blake, Brian Krupp, Janche Sang

Business Faculty Publications

In this paper, we introduce a method for the dynamic partitioning of web pages. The algorithm is first illustrated by manually partitioning a web page, then the implementation of the algorithm using PHP is described. The method results in a partitioned web page consisting of small pieces or fragments which can be retrieved concurrently using AJAX or similar technology. The goal of this research is to increase performance of web page delivery by decreasing the latency of web page retrieval.

A Language Designed For Programming I, Ben A. Blake

Business Faculty Publications

The process of comprehending a problem, strategically developing a solution and translating the solution into an algorithm is arguably the single most important series of skills acquired during the education of an undergraduate computer science or information technology major. With this in mind, much care should be taken when choosing a programming language to deploy in the first University programming course. BLAKE, Beginners Language for Acquiring Key programming Essentials, is designed specifically for use in a Programming I class. BLAKE aids in enforcing fundamental object-oriented practices while simultaneously facilitating the transition to subsequent programming languages. BLAKE’s major features include; consistent …

Buyer Perceptions Of Supply Disruption Risk: A Behavioral View And Empirical Assessment, Scott C. Ellis, Raymond M. Henry, Jeff Shockley Jan 2010

Buyer Perceptions Of Supply Disruption Risk: A Behavioral View And Empirical Assessment, Scott C. Ellis, Raymond M. Henry, Jeff Shockley

Business Faculty Publications

As supply chains become more complex, firms face increasing risks of supply disruptions. The process through which buyers make decisions in the face of these risks, however, has not been explored. Despite research highlighting the importance of behavioral approaches to risk, there is limited research that applies these views of risk in the supply chain literature. This paper addresses this gap by drawing on behavioral risk theory to investigate the causal relationships amongst situation, representations of risk, and decision-making within the purchasing domain. We operationalize and explore the relationship between three representations of supply disruption risk: magnitude of supply disruption, …
