The book describes the structure and operating conditions of financial sytems, with particolar emphasis on the mechanisms of division of labour among financial institutions and the main functions of intermediaries and markets. It analyzes the economical and risk characteristcs of financial instruments and the functions assigned to the banks and to the other main intermediaries. It examines separately operations and services addressed to the entreprises and private clients
