The Freidheim Family Papers consist of family histories, correspondence, financial records, wills, land deeds, and newspaper clippings, relating to the Rock Hill, South Carolina family. There is much material concerning the financial affairs and estate of Arnold Freidheim and his brother, Julius Freidheim, owners of Freidheim’s Department Store, and the heirs to their estates, which included the members of the Marshall Family. Also included are the executors annual reports concerning actions taken in carrying out the terms of the Freidheim’s will and a genealogy of the John Clawson Family.

The Thomas Family Papers are a valuable source of information concerning family life in Rock Hill, S.C. during the period 1920-1945. The collection includes diaries, Thomas Tours brochures, newspaper clippings speeches, financial and estate records, genealogies, menus, photographs, memorabilia and an extensive body of correspondence comprising the largest part of the collection. Dr. Roy Zachariah Thomas brought his family to Rock Hill when he assumed the position of professor of Chemistry at Winthrop College in 1914. Daniel Saye Hollis (1885-1981) was a politician and community leader from Rock Hill, SC. The Daniel Saye Hollis Papers consist of correspondence, speeches, legislative bills, reports, newspaper clippings and other material relating to Hollis’ career, term of office as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, York County politics, and the South Carolina Democratic Party. Of particular interest is a memoir entitled, “I Remember," which focuses on his early life, rural attitudes, and growing up in a southern rural community in the early 1900s.
