However, volunteer recruitment and retention are an ongoing challenge and concern and are potentially costly to a nonprofit organization. Grounded in the ability-motivation-framework and Herzberg’s two-factor theory, the purpose of this qualitative multiple case study was to explore the strategies that nonprofit leaders used to recruit and retain technologically competent volunteers. Based on agency theory, the purpose of this correlational study was to investigate the relationship between corporate governance, financial reporting, and three measures of profitability; return on assets, return on equity, and net interest margin, in 80 banks within the Midwest from 2015–2018.
