Increasing attention is drawn to the stock market as the number of shares traded continues to reach new highs. The purchase of common stock as an effective hedge against inflation is also broadly discussed. Obviously, not all stock presently offered for sale will yield a favorable return on investment. The use of comprehensive financial analysis has proven to be essential in effective investment management. It is the purpose of this report to thoroughly analyze the Boise Cascade Corporation to determine whether or not the purchase of its common stock would be a profitable long-term investment.

A Personnel Study--The Role Of The Program Manager In A Northern Utah Aerospace Company, Thomas W. Enright

The prime interest of this study was to measure and analyze the authority/responsibility conceptions the program managers had of themselves as compared to that held by the line or functional personnel with whom the program managers were in day-to-day contact. A questionnaire consisting of 22 questions was distributed to 20 program managers and 73 line personnel. Of these 93 distributed questionnaires, 92 were returned and analyzed. The questionnaire asked to what degree, in the opinion of the respondent, did the program manager have the authority to perform 22 different functions. Categories of Always, Frequently, Seldom and Never were offered.

For many years the office practice curriculums in the small high schools in Utah have been incomplete. Small high schools generally do not offer the same opportunities for learning as larger high schools due to the lack of funds, a smaller student body, and a shortage of trained personnel. Their distance from larger metropolitan areas where office opportunities are more readily available has made it economically unsound to offer such training programs and facilities. Often, students do not receive adequate training to prepare them for entry level jobs upon graduation from high school.

The general attitude of the faculty and staff was assessed through the questionnaires distributed to all fulltime employees of Utah State University. Their feelings regarding supervision, work recognition, communication, physical facilities, job satisfaction and their attitude toward the administration were reflected by their response.

The over-all campus attitude seems to be good. The areas of supervision and work recognition received the most favorable replies. Downward communications, or communications from the administration to the employee. received more negative response than reactions to upward channels of communication.

A Study Of The Reasons For The Salary Differential Between Professional Staff Members At The University Of Utah And Utah State University, Terrance R. Volb

Salary differentials by rank were studied at the University of Utah and Utah State University on a departmental basis.

Multiple regression equations were developed from criteria at Utah State University which were used to predict individual salaries for professional staff members at the University of Utah. Thirteen of the fourteen multiple regression equations developed showed statistical significance at the .05 level and twelve departments were significant at the .01 level.

Salary comparisons by rank were considerably reduced as a result of the department by department analysis.
