Profiles of four faculty all-stars at DePaul University: Associate Professor Kelly Richmond Pope, a forensic accountant who has made several films capturing accounting fraud, including "All the Queen's Horses"; Research Professor of Law Patty Gerstenblith, who founded DePaul's Center for Art, Museum & Cultural Heritage Law and concerns herself with the problem of cultural heritage looting; psychology professors W. Business school alumna Bushra Amiwala, a Pakistani Muslim, may have lost her 2018 primary election to the Illinois' Cook County Board of Commissioners, but she won her 2019 bid to be seating on the Skokie (Ill.) Professor of Management Nezih Altay credits an earthquake in his native Turkey as a game-changing event that led him to learn more about the supply chain of disaster management. Today, Altay is lauded for being one of the first U.S. academics to recognize the importance of applying supply chain theory and research to disaster relief. He was named a Fulbright Scholar and researhed the logistics of aid delivery in conflict zones for six months the visiting Fulbright-Hanken Distinguished Chair in Business and Economics at Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland.

Ambassador Carmen Lomellin (MBA '84) is a proud advocate for women, children and immigrants. After getting her MBA while working at Inland Steel in Chicago, she worked in a variety of capacities for the City of Chicago. She stumped for Hillary Clinton in her bid for the U.S. presidency and represented the United States under President Barack Obama as ambassador Organization of American States. She worked with scholars at DePaul to publish "In Modern Bondage: Sex Trafficking in the Americas." She now runs a successful consultancy.

Entrepreneurship is the foundation of the hospitality industry. the study of entrepreneurship has yield three main types of entrepreneurship: a traditional entrepreneur, a lifestyle entrepreneur, and a social entrepreneur. This research sought to determine if these types of entrepreneurs are really as siloed as presented or if there is a gray area between them. No one person was solely one type of entrepreneur (traditional, social, or lifestyle). We present the cases of entrepreneurs existing on a continuum: A lifestyle-traditional entrepreneur, a traditional-social entrepreneur, and a social-lifestyle entrepreneur. Customer complaints can shed light on organizations’ key performance practices, providing useful information for organizations to learn from their mistakes Since customer complaints should be regarded as a learning opportunity, it is important to identify what drives customer complaints. Through experimental designs using a failed service in the restaurant, we investigated whether all angry customers complain to the service provider and if not, what prevents them from raising their voice. Human resources are an important asset for the hospitality industry; however, long working hours, low pay, and demanding customers are known to increase hospitality employees’ job stress. Work stress contributes to a high turnover rate in the hospitality industry; thus, it is critical for hospitality practitioners to understand work-related stressors and aid employees in coping with their stress. Challenge stressors can be viewed as beneficial to employees, while hindrance stressors tend to bring little benefit to employees. Through a survey of 232 hotel employees, we examined the role of psychological capital in the association between job stressors and employee burnout …
