Design, Fabrication And Manufacturing Analysis Of A Rollover Protection System, Nikolas Paris Dec 2012

Design, Fabrication And Manufacturing Analysis Of A Rollover Protection System, Nikolas Paris

BioResource and Agricultural Engineering

This senior project discusses the design, fabrication and manufacturing analysis of a rollover protection system specifically designed for early body style Ford Broncos (1966-1977). The rollover protection system, or roll cage, is an integral safety feature on vehicles which commonly encounter extreme terrain conditions. Many vehicles which attempt to traverse terrain such as this are not always properly equipped with a rollover protection system. This is the case with the early body style Ford Bronco. This system will be designed to market the niche of early bronco parts.

The True Value Of Value-Added Services In Digital Print, Noemi Garcia Dec 2012

The True Value Of Value-Added Services In Digital Print, Noemi Garcia

Graphic Communication

This study compares the success of five digital printers in California’s central coast based on whether they choose to charge for value-added services. It questions past research that shows digital printers who implement an additional fee for such services are more successful than digital printers who do not always bill the customer for the extra services. It focuses on determining the reasons behind each printer’s strategy through a questionnaire. The study concludes printers not charging are not necessarily losing money because they have found ways to eliminate non-value-adding steps in their value chain. Therefore success must be redefined other than …

Lou F. saw this great discrepancy in the wellness field, and decided that what was needed was an organization dedicated to mental health as well as physical health, encompassing fitness training, nutrition, and counseling for the everyday individual as well as the corporate world. With this idea in mind, Lou set out to create this type of organization. This paper addresses the importance of creating a strong brand …

The Creation Of Student-Run Public Relations Firms: A Historical Look At Student-Run Firms, Hannah Hazdovac Dec 2012

The Creation Of Student-Run Public Relations Firms: A Historical Look At Student-Run Firms, Hannah Hazdovac

Journalism

This study explores the history and background of student-run public relations firms on

college campuses and the benefits, if any, that students receive as a result of working

in such a firm. The public relations industry estimated at growing 18 percent between

2006 and 2016 (Todd, 2009). Even with the sudden expansion of the public relations

industry, and subsequently, public relations education, evidence suggests that recent

public relations graduates often times do meet entry-level outcome expectancies of

employers, leaving a need for a change in curriculum (Creedon, Dostal, Gael, Smith &

Walker, 1999). It is becoming increasingly more important to …

Consumer Purchase Decisions Regarding Screw Cap Wines, Lauren M. Jeter

Master's Theses

Screw cap wine closures provide many benefits in maintenance of wine quality over time, however acceptance of their use by purchasers has varied. This work first investigates how factors like age, gender, income and education affect the decision to purchase screw cap wines and to what extent these factors impact consumer decisions to bring screw cap wine to various social settings. The results of a questionnaire pooling attitudes and behaviors of wine purchasers (n=319) indicate that factors such as age, wine knowledge, income and gender influence a consumer’s decision to purchase screw cap wine. Comparative Analysis Of Dispersion Parameter Estimates In Loglinear Modeling: Applied To E-Commerce Sales And Customer Data, Scott Davis Sep 2012

Comparative Analysis Of Dispersion Parameter Estimates In Loglinear Modeling: Applied To E-Commerce Sales And Customer Data, Scott Davis

Statistics

When loglinear models are applied to count data the issue of over-dispersion often arises. Moment and maximum likelihood estimation methods in accounting for over-dispersion are widely used because they allow for model checking tools such as Chi-square, F, and likelihood ratio tests. Here is a comparison between R functions that each uses one method; glm.nb uses MLE, and glm.poisson.disp uses MME. The Index of Dissimilarity and visual model selection (ECDF plots) are also incorporated. These are applied to sales data using product and customer information compiled over the last five years that was generously provided by an e-commerce company.

Business Plan For A Commercial Teff Farm In Ethiopia, Ephrem Teklu Phifer-Houseman Aug 2012

Business Plan For A Commercial Teff Farm In Ethiopia, Ephrem Teklu Phifer-Houseman

BioResource and Agricultural Engineering

This senior project was undertaken to determine the feasibility of creating a profitable farm in Ethiopia using commercial farming methods in order to raise the standard of living for Ethiopian subsistence farmers and improve food security in Ethiopia. Initially, a farmer’s cooperative was the model proposed for this farm. However, further research into the realities of Ethiopian agribusiness and the difficulties smallholder farmers face in obtaining capital, along with in-depth financial analysis called for a modification of the business model. Consequently, this senior project discusses the design and delineation of a business plan for a privately-held, commercial, teff grain farm …

Estimated Sales And Investment Costs To Produce And Retail Gelato In The Petaluma Area, Katherine Camozzi Jun 2012

Estimated Sales And Investment Costs To Produce And Retail Gelato In The Petaluma Area, Katherine Camozzi

Agribusiness

Recent events in the California dairy have left many dairy producers with high feed costs, low profits, and low (sometimes negative) margins. Some producers have transitioned to producing value-added or artisanal dairy products to help increase the revenues earned from farm milk, particularly in Sonoma County. Because limited research exists on the business opportunities in response to a rapidly growing market for value-added products, this project explores the feasibility of starting a gelato production and retail business in the Petaluma area. To assess business feasibility, a consumer survey was created to estimate the percent of residents and non-residents who would …

Various statistical data analysis was conducted and the results are presented in this report. There was a significant difference across the genders for a label that “is colorful” and for an “organic” information cue. It is …

In this study the effects of optical brightening agents (OBAs) on color reproduction in digital toner-based printing are explored. Through the comparison of two distinct substrates with different levels of OBAs, notable differences in the reflectance of blue light in the visible light spectrum are analyzed among light sources Illuminant A, D50, and D65. Fluorescence occurs in OBA paper under light with a UV component; between D65 and Illuminant A light sources there is a distinct difference in fluorescing effect of the sample substrates. Color discrepancy as a result of OBAs is analyzed between D50 and Illuminant A light sources, …
