Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Efficient knowledge transfer enhances tourism destination competitiveness. Multiple factors, however, affect knowledge transfer, making it a complex process to quantify. To address this complexity, we developed a quantitative tool by integrating a diffusion model with the major antecedents of knowledge transfer identified in the knowledge management literature. We applied this model in the Western Australian tourism industry and demonstrated its practicality. The proposed model provides a quantitative tool for destination management organizations to monitor, assess and improve the efficiency of knowledge diffusion within their tourism destinations. Such improved knowledge diffusion is critical in strengthening a destination's innovative capabilities and competitiveness.

Communities of practice (CoP) have become a popular source of knowledge-sharing and learning in organizations. However, several problems occur in managing them and more knowledge about this area is needed. This article addresses this knowledge gap and aims to understand and describe how to facilitate communities of practice in a large corporation. The research draws on a qualitative case study based on interviews with people involved in CoPs in a large multinational technology company and the analysis followed the method introduced by Gioia et al. (2013). The findings relate to participants' conceptions of the nature of CoPs, how CoPs align …

Knowledge Hiding In Organizations: Meta-Analysis 10 Years Later, Miha Škerlavaj, Matej Černe, Saša Batistič
Economic and Business Review
A decade since the seminal paper on knowledge hiding in organizations (Connelly et al., 2012) emerged, this research area has witnessed rapid evolution, resulting in a fragmentation of the field and conceptual proliferation. Given the increasing interest in knowledge hiding, this study complements a set of recently published (systematic) literature reviews and proposes an organizing framework (nomological network) for antecedents and consequences of knowledge hiding, and tests it using meta-analytic procedures. Based on an effect analysis drawn from 131 studies and 147 samples, comprising 47,348 participants, the relationships between knowledge hiding and different antecedent and consequence categories are examined. The …

Succession planning is a term that refers to the systematic and methodological efforts an organization uses to plan for organizational stability and proficiency. Organizations must provide employees the training, experiences, and knowledge required to assume positions of increased responsibility when those jobs are vacated. Agencies should strive to create a diversified pool of qualified candidates to avoid a talent gap, workforce shortages, or a loss of agency knowledge. Over the past fifteen years, the Federal Government has continued to highlight the need to take a proactive approach to succession planning by first identifying the skill sets needed for critical positions …

Impact Of Knowledge Management Processes Upon Job Satisfaction And Job Performance, George Reid Cooper
CCE Theses and Dissertations
While we might know anecdotally that the implementation of knowledge management in an organization improves job satisfaction and job performance, there are limited empirical studies that assess this assumption. There have been studies done in this area but the results vary in terms of which knowledge management processes have an impact upon job satisfaction and which do not. Similarly, many studies make assumptions that job satisfaction leads to improved job performance without testing for that variable. The goal of this dissertation is to assess whether the knowledge management processes have a positive impact upon job satisfaction and job performance and …

Knowledge is regarded as a critical source of sustainable competitive advantage. However, knowledge has a negative aspect as well. Organizations face a variety of risks as a result of a lack of knowledge, its disappearance, incorrect application, or other consequences of knowledge-related use. Various knowledge risk dimensions were reported in the literature. The authors summarized and analyzed the theoretical perspectives on knowledge risks based on certain criteria such as comprehensiveness, clarity and flexibility. This research has provided an extended knowledge risk taxonomy of Durst and Zieba (2018). The taxonomy now includes a strategic knowledge risks group that embraces knowledge loss, …

The 2p-K Framework: A Personal Knowledge Measurement Framework For The Pharmaceutical Industry, Ahmed Ramy
Doctoral
Knowledge is a dynamic human process to justify our personal belief in pursuit of the truth. The intellectual output of any organisation is reliant upon the individual people within that organisation. Despite the eminent role of personal knowledge in organisations, personal knowledge management and measurement have received little attention, particularly in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the pillars of the global economy and a knowledge-intensive sector where knowledge is described as the second product after medicines. The need of measurement to achieve effective management is not a new concept in management literature. This study offers an explanatory …
