Process Hazard Review For Drug Development, Rudolph R. Schwarz
Process Hazard Review For Drug Development, Rudolph R. Schwarz
Theses
The development of drugs has become increasingly complex, requiring the use of a wide variety of pharmaceutical actives and isolated intermediates, a majority of which are not always completely characterized with respect to their hazard potential. This can present a source of potential exposure to those who handle these substances during initial drug development, manufacturing of the drug active and ultimately the finished pharamaceutical product. It is, therefore, essential that safety and health information be documented and communicated during the entire drug development process.
The need for application of process hazard review techniques to the development of new drug materials …

The J-Curve: An Empirical Investigation Of The Trade Balance And Balance Of Payments In Seven European Countries, Sabine Beate Bomke
Masters Theses
The effects of exchange-rate changes on the trade balance and the balance of payments of selected European countries is examined in this paper. Of particular interest are estimates of the existence and length of the J-curve effect, which describes the curve the trade balance may follow over time after devaluation. Contrary to popular expectations, the trade balance may deteriorate further after devaluation before "turning around" and improving.
Quarterly data from 1973 to 1985 for Belgium, Denmark, France, West Germany, Ireland, Italy and the Netherlands were used in this study. Out of a total of 84 realignments the J-curve was observed …

Boston-Halifax Ferry Service: Capturing An Existing Market, Melissa P. Madeira
Theses and Major Papers
The viability of a Boston to Halifax ferry service is examined in light of the existing vehicle traffic entering that Province from the United States. The current cruise ship industry is outlined and the role which the Port of Boston plays in this market describes the Port's incentive for instituting such a ferry service. Statistics provided by the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism show that a significant volume of vehicle traffic which enters Nova Scotia originates at points in the United States which are to the south and west of Boston. The existence of this traffic supports the assumption that …

Applying Marketing Concepts To Seventh-Day Adventist Secondary Education, David Stephen Penner
Dissertations
Problem
Seventh-day Adventist academies face financial problems due to declining enrollments and inadequate funding. Higher education has looked to marketing as a possible means of reversing these trends. While much has been written about marketing in higher education, little has been written concerning the marketing of secondary education.
Method
In order to accomplish the purpose of this study, it was necessary to review the current ideas on marketing higher education and examine those ideas that might apply to secondary education. An outline for marketing SDA secondary education was then developed. In order to validate the outline, a panel of judges, …

The Impact Of Gender Differences On The Ethical Conduct Of Corporate Middle Management, Daniel W. Kemper
The Impact Of Gender Differences On The Ethical Conduct Of Corporate Middle Management, Daniel W. Kemper
Theses
This thesis will focus on the study of business ethics and the impact gender has upon the ethical decisions of corporate middle management .
Research has attributed the lack of ethics in businessmen to a decline in moral standards . Because this condition seems to be the rule rather than the exception, it becomes necessary to focus more clearly on the corporate system and the moral development of the individuals who make up this system.
Over the years moral development has been the subject of controversy as many theorists have developed their own ideas as to why people behave morally. …
