Dietetics has been identified as one of the professions in which there is a shortage of qualified personnel. The need to delegate selected task functions to extend professional skills and contain costs has been recognized in many professions faced with a manpower shortage.

This research was done to determine the degree to which dietitians will utilize dietetic technicians in the role proposed by the American Dietetic Association. A questionnaire was the instrument utilized to collect data from the 197 randomly selected hospitals in the continental United States. The specific objectives of this research were to (1) identify the principal characteristics and functions of performance appraisal programs utilized in hospital dietary departments, (2) determine the ten major factors in performance appraisal as indicated by the hospital dietary department directors as well as by dietetic interns and the factors indicated in the review of literature, and (3) develop an evaluation form for performance appraisal of hospital dietary department employees utilizing criteria obtained from (1) and (2).

Several writers in the field of capital budgeting have charged that present day literature on the subject fails to adequately address the post audit phase of capital expenditure programs. This study is essentially a survey of current literature designed to determine the validity of this charge. To accomplish this task, the study compares each author’s published views on selected post audit factors with other responses from the literature and analyzes collective agreements and differences. A review of recent articles indicates that the effectiveness of simulation on Vocational Education has been substantiated. Many programs have been used throughout the United States which point out the success of office simulation.

Utah began simulation by converting trailers into mobile modern offices. The first class was taught in June, 1968, with a migrant farm worker project. The program was called MOE (Mobile Office Education). Hanson and Stocker were involved in the development and teaching of this program. The Manpower Stenographic Training Program is a secretarial training course designed to enable female unemployed primary wage earners and heads of households to obtain this remedial and/or refresher job training necessary for entry-level positions in office occupations. In 1906 cooperative education was established by Dean Herman Schneider of the University of Cincinnati. Since that time legislation has been passed, such as the Vocational Act of 1963 and the Amendments of 1968, which have played an important part in the adoption of cooperative office education programs in the schools. Prior to 1963 there were approximately 450 programs, and in 1969-70 there were approximately 2,321 programs operating.

The seed of cooperatives was first brought to Thailand by Sir Bernard Hunter, the British banker, in 1914. Because of his suggestion , the first cooperative society was established in Phitsanulok Province in the northern part of Thailand, on February 26, 1916, along the lines of the Raiffeisen model, or what is known as the "village credit cooperative." The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) organizations serve the business youth of today--the business leaders of tomorrow. These organizations, founded by Hamden L. forkner, have been in existence since 1942. The first FBLA chapter was chartered at Johnson City, Tennessee; and the first PBL chapter was charted at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, (now the University of Northern Iowa).1

Chapter growth has been rapid with the latest figures showing 4,587 FBLA chapters and 461 PBL chapters now in existence in 44 states and 3 territories.2

The purpose of this study was to analyze the word processing procedures in the offices of the President and Provost at Utah State University. Seven secretaries participated in the survey by completing a questionnaire and keeping a record of all typing and nontyping tasks performed during two nonconsecutive weeks.

A combined total of 9035 lines (average 12 words per line) of typing was completed by all workers. Ninety-nine percent of the typing was classified as text in format and originated in one of several ways including: copy type, shorthand, revision, self composition, machine dictation, and longhand.

The objectives of the study were: (1) to evaluate the processed farm-cultured catfish business in its embryonic stage during 1968 in terms of a systematic managerial planning model (MPH); (2) to focus on the managerial strategy of market segmentation and determine the relationships between the number of processed farm-cultured catfish sales and selected economic and socio-economic determinants or consumer market behavior. From the evaluation of the processed farm-cultured catfish business as it existed in 1968, it was suggestive that the planning process was not implemented thoroughly. The premise of this study is that certain policies within and without the petroleum industry have interacted to produce semirigid industry prices. One effect of this price rigidity is the inflexibility that is passed on to costs whenever the traditional joint-cost-accounting allocation (based on relative market value) is used in conjunction with these prices.

In studying the problem, activities and policies which combined to cause artificial price restraints in the petroleum-refining industry from 1963 to 1972 were reviewed. The accounting and economic implications and the effect on refinery investment of the resulting semirigid prices were investigated.
