Since the turn of the century, many things have changed around the world, with a focus on the athletic apparel and fashion industries. Using Fowler’s (1999) research regarding the attributes sought in sports apparel, this study serves as a replication to determine how attributes sought in sports apparel have evolved. Online surveying through Qualtrics was utilized for data collection. The research explored the trend of Athleisure and the rising demand for versatile clothing. The role of gender and its associated differences significantly influenced the attributes sought in sports apparel. In addition, this study explored three additional attributes that consumers evaluate …

Peer Assisted Study Sessions For Financial Accounting, Laura Salt, Caitlin Larrick
Peer Assisted Study Sessions For Financial Accounting, Laura Salt, Caitlin Larrick
Senior Honors Projects, 2010-2019
James Madison University (JMU) offers Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) for a variety of courses throughout different disciplines. This past Spring semester PASS was offered for 15 courses across campus, including three courses in the College of Business (COB). PASS is administratively handled and financial supported by JMU. They are review sessions led by students who have successfully completed the same course with the same professor in order to help improve students’ performance in that same course. Since we conducted similar review sessions, we adopted the same name, PASS, because many students were familiar with this term from other COB …

A Cross-Cultural Examination Of The Effect Of Employer Support On Employee Productivity, Shawn Tuman, Haley Lipton
A Cross-Cultural Examination Of The Effect Of Employer Support On Employee Productivity, Shawn Tuman, Haley Lipton
Senior Honors Projects, 2010-2019
The purpose of this creative, collaborative, capstone project is to conduct a cross-cultural examination of the effect of employer support on employee productivity by compiling, examining, and synthesizing conclusions from existing research. In a world of growing globalization and technological innovation, the speed of productivity is often the cornerstone that differentiates successful businesses from unsuccessful businesses, providing a competitive advantage to the quick while the others fall behind. Often this increased level of efficiency comes at a cost beyond the price of the product and the salary of employees, a deeper, psychological cost. By reviewing research focused in the United …
The Role Of Leadership In Student Organizations, Samantha Mcanallen
The Role Of Leadership In Student Organizations, Samantha Mcanallen
Senior Honors Projects, 2010-2019
The purpose of this paper is to analyze the extent to which the leaders of the Eta Delta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) and the JMU Women’s Rugby club embody the characteristics of the leaders of successful organizations by examining these two organizations in the context of the characteristics of successful organizational cultures. In order to conduct an appropriate examination of the cultures of these two organizations, I chose to compare them to the characteristics of successful group cultures presented in Daniel Coyle’s The Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups. Throughout his book, Coyle highlights the …
Export Plan For Maurertown Trailers To Vietnam, Dan Ford
Export Plan For Maurertown Trailers To Vietnam, Dan Ford
Senior Honors Projects, 2010-2019
Because of the scant information available on the market and competition in Vietnam, I recommend that Maurertown Trailers does not immediately enter the Vietnamese market. Prior to exporting to Vietnam, it would be best if Maurertown exports to other countries that are more similar to the United States market, such as Canada and Western Europe. If the company does determine that it is in its best interest to export to Vietnam, it should begin by engaging with trade shows, where it can showcase its product (most preferably its dump trailer since this attracts a wide customer base in the US) …

With a team of four other hospitality management students, I planned and executed a creative themed event surrounding the overarching theme of Medieval times and the Royal court of Camelot. Decorations, food, and entertainment for the event were based on Medieval culture to create a royal castle experience for guests to dine like kings and queens for the evening. This paper will outline all details of the event such as floor diagrams, decorations, menu items and entertainment. It will also outline analyses …
Celebrity Chefs As Influencers Of Food Well-Being, Briana Cifelli
Celebrity Chefs As Influencers Of Food Well-Being, Briana Cifelli
Senior Honors Projects, 2010-2019
The concept of being a “celebrity chef” has changed throughout the years. Using Block et al’s (2011) Food Well-Being pinwheel and Lane and Fisher’s (2015) research about celebrity chef influence on a UK student population, this study investigates celebrity chef culture as viewed by Millennials in the U.S. The research explores the potential influence of celebrity chefs as influencers of food culture and food habits, the modern chef’s role as celebrity endorsers for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) campaigns, and whether perceptions of celebrity chef culture differ between the UK and the U.S. Data collection was through an online survey using …
