Factors Influencing Backer Funding Intention In Crowdfunding: Psychological Contract Violation Perspective, Qun Zhao, Chun-Der Chen, Jin-Long Wang

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

Literature has highlighted the importance of psychological contract violation (PCV) on employee attitudes and behaviors in an organization. However, few studies have empirically introduced this concept in a crowdfunding context. This study aims to propose a comprehensive framework to examine the effects of perceived product innovation, PCV and trust in a crowdfunding platform on backer attitudes and their funding intentions. Results show that perceived reciprocity for backers and PCV are the most important factors leading to backers’ funding intentions. Moreover, perceived reciprocity channels the effects of perceived product innovation, PCV, and trust in the crowd-funding platform on backers’ funding intention. …

Supply Chain Integrated Inventory Model Considering Fuzzy Demand And Quantity Discounts With Uncertain Manufacturing Procedures, Zhi-Ping Lin, Zai-An Xu, Yuh-Ling Su, Chieh Lee, Jun-Yuan Kuo

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

This study mainly discusses the best economic production quantity (EPQ) system that can be obtained with the considerations of the possibility of causing defective item production in the uncertain environments. In the current production and manufacturing schedule, the efficiency of a company’s operations is often determined by the quality of the supply chain. However, the traditional method for solving the problem pertaining to economic production quantities usually assumes that the defective items and the backorder situations do not exist in the perfect production process. In this study, the system is developed on the basis of the production of the finished …

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

The AIS data is powerful ‘Big Data’ of marine traffic and can provide critical insights for risk assessment and ship navigation in the congested waterway. In our previous work (Huang et al., 2019), a statistical approach was proposed to explore the information of ship navigation from AIS data. In this study, we extend the previous methods to study navigation safety in the approaching fairway of Keelung Harbour. The AIS data is acquired according to the factors of mooring dock, ship size and seasonal conditions. The statistical method is used to establish a ship behaviour model considering the lateral position, speed …

Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making With Multilevel Criteria To Evaluate Retailer Financial Performance For Supply Chain Management, Yu-Jie Wang, Tzeu-Chen Han Jun 2019

Fuzzy Multi-Criteria Decision-Making With Multilevel Criteria To Evaluate Retailer Financial Performance For Supply Chain Management, Yu-Jie Wang, Tzeu-Chen Han

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

Retailers are important components in a supply chain because they are closer to the end users than are other industrial processes of the chain. Therefore, retailer selection must be carefully examined, especially when considering the financial performance of supply chain management. Generally, the evaluation of retailer financial performance in a vague and uncertain environment is based on multilevel criteria. In the past, many researchers, including Chen, Liang, Raj and Kumar, Wang and Lee, and Chou, proposed models under uncertain environments to evaluate fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making (FMCDM) problems. They evaluated FMCDM problems based on a single level, and resolved the ties …

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

To foster more maritime human resources, Taiwan’s Ministry of Education began to approve the establishment of nautical post-baccalaureate programs at three maritime universities in 2010. This study conducted a comparative analysis of the seafaring career persistence of nautical post-baccalaureate students and college students. Social cognitive career theory (SCCT) served as the research perspective, and data were collected through a questionnaire survey on persistence in the seafaring profession. The collected data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). This study revealed that seafaring career persistence, self-efficacy, and positive outcome expectation for seafaring careers were significantly higher among the post-baccalaureate students than …

Collaboration Enhances Utilization Of Production Factors In Container Shipping Industry, Rong-Her Chiu, Dong-Hua Wang

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

This study investigates both theoretically and empirically the economic impact of collaborative operation between container carriers. Using the property of superadditivity of the Leontief production function, this study aims to demonstrate that the utilization rate of production factors will improve when liner carriers collaboratively provide services through a strategic alliance. Two production factors, containership slot utilization (CSU) and container circulation velocity (CCV), are used to empirically prove the existence of the efficiency improvement effect after 2000 (since 2000, strategic alliances have become a formal collaborative mechanism and have been restructured continuously)

An Evaluation Of The Key Influencing Factors For Tramp Shipping Corporations Selecting Ship Management Companies, Ta-Yuan Lin, Cheng-Chi Chung, Tien-Chun Ho

Journal of Marine Science and Technology

The shipping industry is a global business and the number of privately-owned ships represents the strength of the shipping industry. However, global trades and the shipping business today are in poor economic shape. The more ships a company owns, the greater the burden on shipping operators. For the tramp shipping industry, using ship leasing, besides convenience, flexibility, time-saving, and tax benefits, commissioning a ship management company (SMC) to handle its non-core business can also result in greater financial liquidity providing the shipping companies with increased investment and purchasing power in other areas. This study is based on a consideration of …
