How do multinational corporations (MNCs) and domestic firms compensate technical and managerial skills of knowledge workers within and across geographies? This paper answers this question by examining how developed economy MNCs and emerging economy firms value MBA education and firm-specific IT experience of IT professionals in India; and how developed economy MNCs value MBA education and firm-specific IT experience differently across India and the U.S. Our analyses of archival data on more than 20,000 IT professionals reveal two important findings. Although the past 2 decades have produced much promise (and accompanying research) on the use of information technology (IT) in business school courses, it is not entirely clear whether IT has truly "transformed" management education. The stakeholder concept derives from a simple premise: organizations and technologies exist in constellations of relationships. Organizations operate in a network of market and nonmarket relationships with other organizations, groups, and individuals. Likewise technologies emerge and exist in a network of suppliers, end users, and others who bear the impact of the technology. Generally with reference to both organizations and technologies, these related parties are termed stakeholders, meaning that they hold a stake in the outcomes of the organization or technology.

The evolution of fiber optics during the past thirty years has led to dramatic developments in the fields of computer information systems, telecommunications, cable television, and military science. Today, fiber optical systems are widely accepted as a practical and cost efficient alternative to electrical communication systems.

This paper addresses: (1) the basic architecture of fiber optical systems; (2) the evolution of fiber optical systems; (3) the advantages and limitations of fiber optical systems in comparison to traditional communication systems; (4) the application of fiber optical systems; and (5) the anticipated future developments of fiber optical systems.
