Evidence-Based Family Strengthening Training In Maine: A Resource Assessment And Proposal To Reduce Barriers And Increase Facilitators, Elaine Thomas
Honors College
The purpose of this research is to conduct a resource assessment of family strengthening training programs in the state of Maine. The primary focus of the resource assessment is to identify the agency and provider-level barriers and facilitators that impact their capacity to provide caregivers with awareness of and access to programs. Prior to presenting the resource assessment, this thesis reviews data about key child and family issues in Maine and examines how family strengthening training is applied as an evidence-based tool to prevent child maltreatment, foster healthy attachments within the family, and nurture positive caregiving skills. An Examination Of The Influence Of Sustainability On Business Strategy In The Three-Dimensional Printing Industry, Yvette Alexandrou
Honors College

Research and development in the 3D printing industry spans a vast range of technologies, materials, and applications. Many say that it is still in search of its “killer app,” a tool or capability that will lead to mass popularity the way the internet and personal computers played an essential role in the exponential growth of the computer industry (Kurman & Lipson, 2013; Misek, 2013). New entrepreneurs and established business executives involved with the 3D printing industry are scanning the field …

Brand Equity In The Maine Craft Beer Industry, Gustav Anderson
Brand Equity In The Maine Craft Beer Industry, Gustav Anderson
Honors College
The state of Maine ranks third for most breweries per capita in the United States. With the industry booming and new breweries entering the market consistently, branding presents itself as an opportunity for differentiation and competitive advantage. The intangible value that results from effective branding is what is commonly referred to as brand equity. Presently, there is limited research on how brand equity applies to the craft beer industry. In this study, David Aaker’s 1996 model for brand equity is used as a guide to learn how breweries and consumers understand and influence brand equity. Further, brewery and consumer perspectives …
The Importance Of A Checkmark: An Investigation Into The Perceptions Of Social Media Verification And Its Effects On Consumer Trust, Jazlyn Dumas
Honors College
Media giants, among them Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, support verified accounts. Verification, denoted by a blue checkmark badge visible in search and on one’s profile, is ostensibly a way of confirming one’s identity, yet only accounts with large followings are awarded verification status by the platform. This research investigates the perception of verification in the context of paid partnerships with social media influencers, a topic relatively absent from the literature despite the billions of dollars spent on influencer partnerships. Verified influencers cost more, therefore, this research could allow brands to capitalize their ad return if they are made aware of …

The Role Of The Iex In A Fragmented Market System, Cameron Spicer
The Role Of The Iex In A Fragmented Market System, Cameron Spicer
Honors College
Over the past several decades, the secondary market system has evolved into a more complex and fragmented system than it once was. The Investor’s Exchange (IEX) emerged in 2014 in rebellion of purportedly unethical High-Frequency Trading (HFT) behaviors in the markets. Using a novel, proprietary model for trade matching along with providing other services, the IEX has become a respectable player in the market system that prides itself on transparency and fairness. This paper explores the role that IEX has played in market fragmentation since its inception using empirical and historical analysis. The empirical analysis focuses primarily on a recent …
