Participatory Design (PD) is an inclusive approach to designing products, services or systems that actively involve the people who use, will use, or be impacted by the design process (Robertson and Simonsen, 2012). PD has been applied in many domains, including architecture, urban planning, product design, healthcare administration, software development, and community engagement, but its application in marketing has been limited. The goal of this paper is to illuminate potential applications for blockchain-enabled PD initiatives in marketing, and to stimulate further thinking about how its use can lead to deeper customer engagement.

The rapid boom of social media in the 21st century has positioned it as a key instrument in the realm of marketing. Social media has also given rise to a new kind of endorser: the influencer. The present study tested the effects of expert influencers vs traditional celebrities on brand attitude and purchase intentions of makeup products, within a cohort of millennials. Results showed respondents tended to favor the expert influencer in terms of perceived expertise, brand attitude and purchase intention. Based on gender role congruence theory, this research sought to understand how consumer perceptions differ for masculinized and feminized products when they are presented by the opposing gender. Additionally, our research sought to understand what role—if any—political affiliation played in the consumer’s perception of the products presented. The results of this study were inconclusive due to a data collection error, however, the study itself serves as a good framework for answering the question of interest and should be rerun to draw meaningful conclusions.

In this paper, we used Smith et al. (2011)’s classification of privacy definitions based on cognate-based and value-based approaches and reviewed the marketing literature for the past five years on consumer information privacy. We added an extra dimension to this classification by looking at whether the research has a regulatory emphasis or not. Our results indicate that there are plenty of research articles on cognate-based and non-regulatory underscoring research as well as value-based and regulatory emphasis articles. There is exigent need for more research on cognate-based, regulation focused and value-based, non-regulation focused accentuation.

This paper looks at the relationships between alcohol consumption and the impulse buying behaviors of college students. The first section of the study looks at what categories of products are most commonly purchased whilst each student is under the influence of alcohol. The criteria for classing something as an impulse purchase in this section is that you can’t have previously planned on buying the product, and/or you end up spending more than you initially intended, whilst you are under the influence. It defines and addresses the relationship between status symbols and what drives the millennial generation’s purchases and desires to purchase. The Relationship Between Investments In Intangible Resources And Liquidation For Financially Distressed Firms, Richard A. Heiens, Robert T. Leach, Paul D. Newsom

Working with a sample of manufacturing and non-manufacturing firms that filed for bankruptcy protection between 1980 and 2009, the current study examines the relationship between investments in intangibles and the likelihood that the bankrupt firm will either be reorganized or face liquidation. Results for the manufacturing sub-sample show that R&D is the only significant variable associated with liquidation. Over-investment in R&D appears to increase the likelihood of liquidation. Similarly, results for the non-manufacturing sub-sample show that over-investment in advertising appears to increase the likelihood of liquidation. Our conclusion is that firms that are forced to liquidate are often guilty of …

In buyer-seller exchanges the seller not only provides the goods and service but also transfers its organization capabilities on to the buying firm. Improper selection and usage of these capabilities may reduce the seller’s sustainable competitive edge in future transactions in this supply chain. Through field interviews and Resource Based View literature, the authors propose and test a model linking organization structure, service capabilities, and seller’s satisfaction and performance in business-to-business exchanges.
