This culminating experience project used artificial intelligence (AI) technology to forecast and analyze the stock market and construct complex nonlinear relationships between the input data and the output data. This project used a radial basis function neural network to forecast and analyze the stock market data. Compared the radial basis function neural network performance with the feed-forward neural network and clearly showed the superiority of the radial basis function neural network over the feed-forward neural network in the data processing. Due to the lockdown and remote working practices, academic universities around the world have been forced to adopt new technology. Online courses and exams enabled the use of new applications. The now taken-for-granted introduction of internet usage into the workplace changed the dynamics of work, productivity, and management, and this is now further complicated by the ubiquitous availability of personal cell phones, going beyond company supplied and (partially) controlled computers with internet connections. This paper studies the connection between internet and cell phone usage by employees and firm productivity. Using primary data collected via a self-reported survey, we conduct an empirical analysis utilizing information based on firm and industry characteristics. Technology is rapidly changing the business landscape. Workforce skills gap is widening in the digital business environment. Universities and employers call for developing students’ higher-order thinking skills along with integrating technology into academic curricula. We conducted a survey to assess learning outcomes from two groups of undergraduate students: business majors and information technology (IT) majors. SAP ERP hands-on case studies were used for this comparative experiment. Mindfulness is a cognitive process that facilitates the discovery and correction of errors that might escalate. This study applies mindfulness theory to examine the impact of top management support for information systems on collective mindfulness, and that of collective mindfulness on IS performance. It treated such mindfulness in five dimensions, and top management support and IS performance as uni-dimensional. Forty-seven chief executive officers responded to a survey asking their perceptions of the constructs. Horizontal collaborative purchasing (HCP) has often been cited as a way for hospitals to address the challenges of the rising healthcare costs. However, hospitals do not seem to utilize horizontal collaborative purchasing on any large scale, and recent initiatives have had mixed results. As E-Commerce (EC) is rapidly gaining popularity in China, EC innovation becomes a major growth strategy for many SMEs. Meanwhile, problems and challenges are hindering proliferation of EC innovation. The need exits for a theoretical model to forge EC innovation: a dynamic process with progressive stages of both internal and external e-readiness. Derived from theories and evidenced by the case studies from Hangzhou, China, our conceptual framework reveals top management, organizational learning, government support, market forces, and technology readiness as essential in each development stage, but with different emphasis. This study attempts to examine individuals’ behavior in the adoption and usage of the Internet for accomplishing various transactions and communication in Bangladesh. This paper provided the results of an investigation on the teaching of computer networks courses and web information retrieval courses in undergraduate Information Technology (IT) curriculum. The paper consists of two parts. First part of the paper surveys the undergraduate courses in two curriculum areas, computer networks and web information retrieval. The content of the survey includes the topics covered, the textbooks used, and major projects in these courses. The second part of the paper describes the authors’ experiences in teaching such courses to undergraduate students in various discipline areas including computer science majors, IT majors, and non-technical majors.

In an increasingly fast-paced business context, agility is crucial to firm performance. Competitive agility, the ability of a firm to rapidly sense and respond to changes in its environment, is especially important during industry turbulence. This research examines whether investment in Information Technology (IT) enhances firms’ competitive agility using analysis of firm performance during industry growth and contraction. The research approach addresses the causality question faced by previous IT productivity studies by focusing on ex-ante IT investment and subsequent firm performance during periods of unanticipated industry shocks. This paper describes the development of the Technological-Personal-Environmental (TPE) framework, which explains individuals’ behaviors of technology acceptance. We argue that existing individual-level technology acceptance theories provide a valuable, but incomplete, understanding of individuals’ technology acceptance. By synthesizing extant technology acceptance models and theories, the proposed TPE delineates the individual-level technology acceptance from technological, personal, and environmental aspects. The proposed framework provides a wider angle to investigate individual-level technology acceptance.

Information Technology Certification Value: An Initial Response From Employers, David Wiershem, Guoying Zhang, Charles R. Johnston

This article looks at the value of certification from the employer's perspective. It is perhaps the first study in this area that gathers data directly from employers. A survey of directors of university information technology departments is analyzed, and the results indicate limited support for certifications being valued assets of their employees. While not sufficiently strong enough to warrant generalization of the results to business in general, with this information, students and professionals should be able to better prepare themselves for finding employment and academic programs can better evaluate the appropriateness of the inclusion of certification training in their curricula.

This paper describes a study that assessed the performance implications of aligning information technology (IT) strategy to overall business strategy across a variety of health care organization (HCO) structures. We obtained survey results from senior executives of 178 hospitals to identify key configurations of IT strategic practices, business strategy and HCO structures. Using K- means cluster analysis, we identified which business strategies correlate strongly with certain IT strategy types. Our results indicate that HCOs achieve superior performance through unique combinations of business and IT strategy, suggesting that correctly aligning these strategies is a critical decision for healthcare organizations.
