This research paper assesses current and future skills and knowledge of IT professionals working in selected Saudi Organizations through ranking the importance of selected IT, management, database, and programming skills and knowledge gained by IT university graduates. The study depicted moderate dynamism and change in the importance of several IT skills and knowledge after 3 years compared with the present time. It was concluded that IT curricula, especially MIS, have to be alter to the changes in the demand for knowledge and skills in computer programming languages, database systems, IT and management knowledge/skills and reflect that in their educational programs. …

Some researchers have concluded that outsourcing of information technology (IT) provides benefits to firms including cost advantages, economies of scale and allowing more of a focus on core competencies. This paper attempts to determine if these benefits actually exist by comparing three financial measures, return on equity (ROE), return on assets (ROA) and profit margin, affirms that have varying levels of outsourcing. To empirically test for the existence of a difference between firms that outsource differing amounts of IT spending, data from 104 companies was gathered. Popular Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementation methods focus on process requirements, system transition, user interface, help desk, and training issues. This research suggests that unless high-level management places equal emphasis on "people oriented" factors (especially at the middle management level) many ERP implementation projects are in jeopardy. Without the commitment of middle management and a proactive change management function, project planning and milestone development can easily become bogged down by political trivialities, which can stall the implementation cycle of a project. The research focuses on two ERP implementations. In both cases middle management served as the unit of analysis.

Interviewing and other conventional approaches failed to produce the user-developer understanding required to establish high-quality systems requirements for software development. .Joint Application Development (JAD) was introduced in the late 1970s, and has been widely used to alleviate this problem. But JAD s success has been critically dependent on the excellence of facilitation to deflect many of the relational problems that are typically experienced with the freely interacting group structure used to conduct JAD sessions. In this paper, an innovative approach is presented to decision making using self-organizing multi-layered neural networks. The model helps make a decision whether to use a conventional stick-built method or to use some degree of modularization when building an industrial process plant - a problem considered very important in construction management because of its economic impact. Decision making in occupational health care management is complex due to the various parties involved in receiving, delivering, and/or paying for^ these services. This paper presents the view of MIS to support occupational health care as a system using Anthony's Paradigm to provide the decision making structure. Informational requirements reflect the hierarchy of strategic, tactical, and operational levels. A matrix of occupational health care services, responsibilities, and participants is utilized. Dogmatism and other individual characteristics affect the level of computer literacy (information fundamentals) reached in the introductory courses in Management Information Systems (MIS), perhaps as much as the investment education institution have made in software and hardware. This paper reports on the results of a questionnaire on computer literacy, dogmatism, and KolVs Learning Styles Inventory (KLSI) given to 80 students at the end of an introductory MIS course. Efficiency in software development projects is examined. Project management tools— GANTT charts, program evaluation and review technique (PERT), and critical path method (CPM) are defined and discussed. Of these productivity tools GANTT charts and PERT are the most relevant. Based on an analysis by Shelmerdine (1989), six steps that pro\ide guidelines for software development are presented. These steps provide the project manager with an opportunity to produce efficiency and deliver a software development project on time. Selected project management software packages are presented.

Four-year colleges and universities have invested time, faculty, floor space, and monies for software and hardware in teaching introductory courses in Management Information Systems (MIS). Do these resources increase the level of computer literacy (hiformation fundamentals)? This paper reports on the before and after results of a questionnaire on computer literacy given to 143 students taking an introductory MIS course. Differences in the amount of learning are analyzed from the perspective of a variety of demographic factors (age, gender, typing skills, and computer access) and Kolb's Learning Styles Inventory (KLSI).

This article provides results from a study on the perceptions of information systems structures' impact on implementation of MIS success and effectiveness via organizational context variables. The focus is on the use of MIS effectiveness and success variables that are utilized in MIS research. Several hypotheses were tested to discern impact of information systems structures on MIS effectiveness and success. The results show that several of these organizational context variables are associated to various degrees, depending on the MIS structure, with MIS success and effectiveness.

The impact of computers in organizational management has been the subject of much literature. As such, one can note distinct variations as to impact on different levels of today's management. A linear relation between the future of organizational management and advanced computer technology has been detailed. Parameters such as the human factor, integrated systems or networking, future computer aided manufacturing, and fifth generation com.puters were the key issues on revolutionizing this same management. It is predicted that human like robots and thinking machines slowly will eliminate management, wherein organizational structures will be redesigned to suit this revolution.
