Accounting And Financial Statements Auto Analysis System, Zhen Jia

Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations

This project was motivated by the need to revolutionize the generation of financial statements and financial analysis process thus speeding up business decision making. The research questions were: 1) How can machine learning increase the speed of financial statement preparation and automate financial statements analysis? 2) How can businesses balance the benefits of automating financial analysis with potential concerns around privacy, data security, and bias? 3) Can the Java J2EE framework provide a reliable running environment for machine learning?

The findings were: 1) Machine learning can significantly increase the accuracy and speed of financial analysis. Using machine learning algorithms, financial …

A Systematic Literature Review Of Ransomware Attacks In Healthcare, Jasler Klien Adlaon May 2023

A Systematic Literature Review Of Ransomware Attacks In Healthcare, Jasler Klien Adlaon

Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations

This culminating experience project conducted a Systematic Literature Review of ransomware in the healthcare industry. Due to COVID-19, there has been an increase in ransomware attacks that took healthcare by surprise. Although ransomware is a common attack, the current healthcare infrastructure and security mechanisms could not suppress these attacks. This project identifies peer-viewed literature to answer these research questions: “What current ransomware attacks are used in healthcare systems? “What ransomware attacks are likely to appear in the future?” and “What solutions or methods have been used to prepare, prevent, and recover from these attacks?” The purpose of this research is …

The Need For International Ai Activities Monitoring, Parviz Partow-Navid, Ludwig Slusky Jan 2023

The Need For International Ai Activities Monitoring, Parviz Partow-Navid, Ludwig Slusky

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

This paper focuses primarily on the need to monitor the risks arising from the dual-use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Dual-use AI technology capability makes it applicable for defense systems and consequently may pose significant security risks, both intentional and unintentional, with the national and international scope of effects. While domestic use of AI remains the prerogative of individual countries, the unregulated and nonmonitored use of AI with international implications presents a specific concern. An international organization tasked with monitoring potential threats of AI activities could help defuse AI-associated risks and promote global cooperation in developing and deploying AI technology. The …

The Applications Of Artificial Intelligence In Managing Project Processes And Targets: A Systematic Analysis, Cherie Noteboom, Martinson Ofori, Zixing Shen Jan 2023

The Applications Of Artificial Intelligence In Managing Project Processes And Targets: A Systematic Analysis, Cherie Noteboom, Martinson Ofori, Zixing Shen

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as the defining technology of the 21st century and has far-reaching impacts on project management (PM). This study assesses the applications of AI in managing project processes and targets through a systematic analysis of publications from 2017 to 2021. The analysis has revealed interesting insights, trends, gaps, and issues. This study informs the researchers and practitioners of the status of AI applications in the management of project processes and targets. It helps stimulate research efforts that can lead to more advances in applying AI to augment PM practices.

Cybersecurity Of Online Proctoring Systems, Ludwig Slusky Jan 2020

Cybersecurity Of Online Proctoring Systems, Ludwig Slusky

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

The online proctored examinations are adopted exceedingly in all forms of academic education and professional training. AI with Machine Learning technology take the leading role in supporting authentication, authorization, and operational control of proctored online examination. The paper discusses how administrative, physical, and technical controls can help mitigate related cybersecurity vulnerabilities of online proctoring systems (OPS). The paper considers two classes of OPS: fully automated AI-enabled systems and hybrid systems (automated AI-enabled with an expert live proctor in control). Based on the review of 20 online proctoring systems, the paper discusses methods and techniques of multi-factor authentication and authorizations, including …

Intelligent Software Tools For Recruiting, Swatee B. Kulkarni, Xiangdong Che Jul 2019

Intelligent Software Tools For Recruiting, Swatee B. Kulkarni, Xiangdong Che

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

In this paper, we outline how recruiting and talent acquisition gained importance within HRM field, then give a brief introduction to the newest tools used by the professionals for recruiting and lastly, describe the Artificial Intelligence-based tools that have started playing an increasingly important role. We also provide further research suggestions for using artificial intelligence-based tools to make recruiting more efficient and cost-effective.

Emergent Ai, Social Robots And The Law: Security, Privacy And Policy Issues, Ramesh Subramanian Jan 2017

Emergent Ai, Social Robots And The Law: Security, Privacy And Policy Issues, Ramesh Subramanian

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

The rapid growth of AI systems has implications on a wide variety of fields. It can prove to be a boon to disparate fields such as healthcare, education, global logistics and transportation, to name a few. However, these systems will also bring forth far-reaching changes in employment, economy and security. As AI systems gain acceptance and become more commonplace, certain critical questions arise: What are the legal and security ramifications of the use of these new technologies? Who can use them, and under what circumstances? What is the safety of these systems? Should their commercialization be regulated? What are the …

Development Of A Maintenance System Based On Web And Mobile Technologies, Jaime Campos, Erkki Jantunen, Om Prakash Jan 2007

Development Of A Maintenance System Based On Web And Mobile Technologies, Jaime Campos, Erkki Jantunen, Om Prakash

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

The paper reports the development of an e-monitoring and maintenance system based on web technology and mobile device, PDA. Rarity of experts led to the application of artificial intelligence and later, distributed artificial intelligence for condition monitoring and diagnosis of machine condition. Recently, web technology along with wireless communication is emerging as a potent tool in maintenance. It facilitates obtaining of the desired information by the relevant personnel at any time wherever he may be. The paper first describes the web and mobile architecture that formed the basis of the system and ICT tools used to communicate among the different …

An Artificial Intelligence Approach To International Market Screening Dss, Kelly E. Fish Jan 2006

An Artificial Intelligence Approach To International Market Screening Dss, Kelly E. Fish

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

This paper applies artificial intelligence (AI) computing, Kohonan Self-Organizing Maps (SOMs), to the problem of international market selection (IMS). Broadly speaking, IMS can be summarized to consist of three stages a) screening stage, b) identification stage and, c) selection stage. The screening stage often employs some type of grouping technique so that firms can begin to view the potential markets in terms of similarities and differences over variables of interest. The underlying purpose is to screen out or eliminate markets that do not meet certain criteria established by the firm. Statistical techniques such as cluster analysis, discriminant analysis or factor …

Neural Networks: The Natural Road To Artificial Iiitelligence, Mohammad Dadashzadeh, Behnam Bahr Jan 1993

Neural Networks: The Natural Road To Artificial Iiitelligence, Mohammad Dadashzadeh, Behnam Bahr

Journal of International Information Management

Despite the many advances of artificial intelligence (Al) technology, most notably in the area of expert systems, efforts to build intelligent systems that would approach the commonsense reasoning and sensory abilities of even a small child have not been rewarding. A small, but growing number of researches believe that the existing AI toolboxes of symbolic representation and heuristic search may not hold the answer, and that massively parallel networks of simple neuron-like processing elements may hold the key. In this overview article, we examine the use of neurally inspired concepts in the construction of intelligent machines, and address their practical …
