The Role Of The Design Coach - A Novel Approach To Achieving 360 Collaboration Between Industry And Higher Education, Lee Styger, Ian Ellis
Lee Styger
There is significant latent design talent within the broader business community, however, much of the design potential is isolated, and, lacks the necessary focus to manifest positive commercial outcomes. Research has indicated that this situation is due to a myopic design development process that is typically caused by the lack of larger team dynamics, reporting structures, and more formal review and feedback processes. The role of the coach is well established in business environments, where, a specialist practitioner enables an environment that supports personal and operational development. Unfortunately the concept of the design coach is not as well established because, …

Further Developments In Knowledge Business Modelling - An Inverse Extension Of The Quality Triangle, Lee Styger
Further Developments In Knowledge Business Modelling - An Inverse Extension Of The Quality Triangle, Lee Styger
Lee Styger
Business Modelling has traditionally been poorly executed leading to. This has led to the introduction of partial analysis and detrimental outcomes. There is a long held axiom that, since all business are different, then all business systems are different and as such, no two rules are the same. Early experimentation in "chunking down" classic business models has demonstrated that it is possible to reduce complex concepts into single, almost binary, rules. This paper discusses further developments of the Quality Triangle moving towards Knowledge Business Modelling.
The Design Of Teaching Protocols That Develop Creativity, Innovation And Innovative Thinking Within Higher Education Business Schools - A Transfer Of Best Practice From Design And Engineering Education Principles, Lee Styger
Lee Styger
Typically, the construct of innovation within business education has focused around the concept of developing innovative and creative leaders of business. This is particularly so in the higher educational fields and specifically so within the context of the global market positioning of many MBA programs currently. However, in many cases, it would appear that business schools are typically embarking on a journey of curriculum development from the point of the core teaching of business methodologies (i.e. silo thinking), rather than incorporating best practice from other disciplines such as those found in leading design and engineering education, where, for example, applied …

The Development Of A Multi Variant Model For Market Intelligence Data Gathering For Australian Micro Businesses And Smes - A First Step In Unravelling The Paradox Of Big Picture Thinking By Small Market Players, Pauline Ross, Lee Styger

Micro businesses and SMEs have typically been encouraged to develop and implement "professional" business processes that will enable them to understand their business environment. The driver of this trend has typically come from a growth in the use of external "expert" sources (i.e. consultants and sponsored agents) who are not always fully associated with the business. This growth in external intervention has typically triggered an evolution in contemporary thinking and literature, that would lead us to believe that micro businesses and SMEs operate in a similar way, and with a similar structure, as larger organisations. This paper focuses on some …
Role Of Supply Chain Mapping In Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Lee Styger, Nelson Perera, Pradeepa Jayaratne
Role Of Supply Chain Mapping In Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Lee Styger, Nelson Perera, Pradeepa Jayaratne
Lee Styger
Sustainability as a concept has created enormous pressure on supply chain management. During the last few decades companies from all sectors of industry have not only needed to deliver quality products right on time, but they now also have to comply with environmental, economical, ethical and the social pressures placed on the business. To improve supply chain performance, managers should know exactly what is happening along their supply chain. It is therefore argued that supply chain mapping will deliver insights into the complexity of a supply network and should be the first step in any business if performance or overall …
