In the past 30 years Peninsular Malaysia has undergone rapid urbanization from 34% urban population in 1980 to 71% in 2010. This has created an unprecedented building boom, leading to the rise of large construction companies. This chapter is going to argue that next to the political economy of ethnicity the cultural conceptions of space will have a decisive impact on the process of urbanization. This paper examines how funding patterns, career pathways and collaboration networks influence scientific recognition. We analyze these institutional factors in the early and middle phases of academic careers through comparison of a group of researchers recognized as creative by their peers with a matched group of researchers. Measurement of scientific recognition is based on survey nominations and research prizes in two growing, laboratory-intensive research domains: nanotechnology and human genetics. Agro-climatological analyses include the derivation of Onset, Cessation and Length of Rainy Season (LRS), Seasonality Index, Drought Index and Precipitation Periodicity Index. How can innovation be balanced with responsible governance? Responsible innovation and responsible governance are broad concepts which mean different things to different groups. This paper presents the results of a roundtable held at the Society for Nanotechnology and Emerging Technologies (S.NET) 2011 conference with academics and policymakers from Europe and the US. The results of this roundtable discussion raise issues of definition, lack of consensus, and the role of philosophy versus practical intervention.

A pot experiment was carried out using 20 surface soils (0-15cm depth) in 2008 to assess soil organic phosphorus and some fraction of inorganic phosphorus in other to know their availability in the soils of the studied area and also work have not been done in this areas in respect to organic and in-organic phosphorus. The experiment was conducted using 20 soils 10 from each geological formation (Cretaceous sediments and Basement complex soils), respectively. This study examines the nature of urban climate, features and the challenges on the developing tropical cities in the 21st century. It argues that the use of principles of urban climate would help in providing comfortable living conditions and problem immune working environments for the inhabitants of tropical cities. This paper presents a credit market model that embeds a costly, universal and imperfect screening technology in an otherwise simple model with borrower self-selection and costly lender screening. Contrary to the result in previous models, such as Wang and Williamson (1998) with random screening, the combination of universal screening and type I screening error produces pooling equilibrium as a non-trivial outcome. This result suggests that generalized lenders engaged in price rationing can sometimes compete with specialized lenders serving a single borrower type in credit markets that relies on costly lender screening as a sorting device.

This paper attempts to answer a direct question—who should get mortgage credit and how should that credit be supplied? This question is at the heart of the recent subprime crisis and the efforts to reform mortgage lending through new regulations. This paper develops a credit market model with borrower’s self-selection and lender’s costly screening. Borrowers in the model differ in both screening cost and credit risk. In particular, the model includes fraudulent borrowers and low-risk-high-documentation-cost borrowers. WOS databases that contain graphene research articles include SCI-EXPANDED, SSCI and A&HCI. The search strategy used in this profile was a simple one: all WOS articles from 2000 to 2010 whose title contained the keyword ‘graphene’ were downloaded and analyzed using VantagePoint textmining software.
