In 1972, Sea World was proceeding with plans to develop a water-oriented theme park on property located within five miles of Disney World on Interstate 4 in Orange County, Florida. It was Sea World’s intention to capitalize on the expected large influx of tourists brought to the area by Disney World. Sea World’s concept is to bring together the best elements of its San Diego and Ohio parks with a distinct identity and a level of quality similar to that of Disney World.
