In 1891, the English Nottingham Lace Firm was looking to expand business, eventually settling on Northeastern Pennsylvania. Although the company saw some difficulties at its inception, it soon became the largest global producer of Nottingham lace in the world. Early management prioritized customer relationships, as shown through …

Understanding Information Sharing Among Equity Analysts, An-Ping Lin, Smu Office Of Research
Research@SMU Infographics
While analysts are known to be experts of the industries they cover, there is a lack ofevidence about how information is shared about the industries they do not cover. "This chapter gives an overview of the main foundational theories of property. As I will show, there are two major families of justification for property (with each family, of course, having many different members). After laying out those two families and their potential problems, I will then consider some of the issues that reside in intellectual property, turning subsequently to explore one way in which a theory of business ethics may either be in tension or fit with such a justification of property. In particular, I will look at the tensions that stakeholder theory, on at least one version of …

The Lego System Makes Co-Creation Painless For The Lego Group, Seth A. Peacock
Undergraduate Research Posters
Co-creation is using consumers to help innovate with a product. While the methodology of co-creation has been extensively researched, different products’ relative suitability to co-creation is rarely examined. This research examines the LEGO Group’s co-creation efforts including LEGO Ideas, LEGO Factory, LEGO Mindstorms NXT, and LEGO Architecture. These programs’ reliance on LEGO’s versatility, modularity, adult fan community, and fan LEGO building expertise are evaluated and compared to other firm’s co-creation efforts. The adult LEGO community’s custom LEGO creations, including fan-designed and fan-sold sets, commissioned sculptures, and LEGO robotics development all constitute consumer innovation independent of the firm; the LEGO Group …

Plan C: The Full-Time Employee And Part-Time Entrepreneur, Erin Albert
Plan C: The Full-Time Employee And Part-Time Entrepreneur, Erin Albert
Butler University Books
Once upon a time in America, the world of work was simpler. We were told to go for Plan A: Go to a great college, since your parents probably didn't get the chance. Then go to a professional school--medical, dental, law, you pick it. Then graduate, and get the very best ‘professional' job you can. Work your dupa off. Work 60 hours a week. Give 150%, even though you don't own anything. Become an employee! However, you're expendable. And...you're laid off.
Then we could try Plan B: Go through twelve stages of losing job. Declare that you'll chuck it all …
