Pour-Over Coffee Stand With Warmer, Francesca Patawaran

This project sought to demonstrate the process of bringing a new product into the market, from the initial design and prototyping stage to marketing and, ultimately, mass production. As part of the curriculum of The Haley Barbour Center for Manufacturing Excellence (CME), the project team manufactured fifteen Pour-Over Coffee Stands with electric heating components. We first created a 3D model of the proposed design, ensuring that all components fit together in an assembly. Next, we worked with the lab technicians to create a prototype of the product. This research paper explores issues pertaining to, and raises awareness about, high sugar intake among consumers, which causes several consequential health risks. The paper also points out various obstacles preventing consumers from reducing their high sugar consumption. These obstacles come from policymakers, policy influencers, the sugar industry, the food industry, and consumers themselves. For some obstacles, involvement of multiple parties was found. The research also discusses several possible solutions for improving a healthy consumption environment for consumer wellbeing.

Coopetition At Work: How Firms Shaped The Airline Industry, Wojciech Czakon, Leo Paul Dana

The literature on coopetition has made a substantial progress in identifying its attributes and outcomes. However, published work has much less to say about the emergence of this strategy. We develop a view on coopetition adoption at industry level, focused on exogenous factors, and seen from an evolutionary perspective. Our longitudinal study of the airline industry development reveals that coopetition is a way of operating, aimed at shaping relationships between value network members. Empirical data suggest that cooperative moves of key players are meant at a more efficient value creation. Yet, those moves involve also intra- and internetwork competition. Industry …
