The Impact Of The Web And Social Media On The Performance Of Nonprofit Organizations, Namchul Shin May 2019

The Impact Of The Web And Social Media On The Performance Of Nonprofit Organizations, Namchul Shin

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

This research empirically analyzes the impact of both the Web and social media on the performance of nonprofit organizations by using 100 nonprofit organizations ranked by web traction measures, including Facebook Likes and Twitter Followers. Our findings from ANOVA and non-parametric tests demonstrate that nonprofit organizations with higher web traction have greater contributions and grants than others with lower web traction. These findings suggest that the use of the Web coupled with social media promotes better, interactive (two-way) communications with the public, as well as fundraising and that nonprofit organizations that attract more supporters on the Web and social media …

Bpm Maturity And Performance: The Influence Of Knowledge On Bpm, Benny M.E. De Waal, Arjen Maris, Pascal Ravesteyn

Communications of the IIMA

In order to continuously improve performance, organizations need to control their processes. To do this it is assumed that organizations need a high level of business process management maturity and employees need a high level of knowledge and experience in BPM. Proof of this assumption has not been found in the literature. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine what the influence is, of knowledge and experience of BPM, on the dependence between BPM maturity and process performance. For this study a dataset of 469 respondents from Dutch organizations was collected over the period of 2010 till 2015. …

The Study Of Competitive Priorities And Information Technology Selection: Exploring Buyer And Supplier Performance, Thawatchai Jitpaiboon

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Competitive priorities are the critical operational dimensions a process or supply chain must possess to satisfy its internal or external customers. The concept of competitive priorities is very important to organizations because it helps them set up achievable goals and it has long been known to be associated with organizational performance. This research introduces an alternative theory to explain the mechanism by which the buying firms and suppliers adopt different competitive priorities as they enter into buyer-supplier relationships and to explore further how technology choices influence the competitive priority adaptation. Using empirical data collected from the Society of Manufacturing Engineer’s …

The Classification Performance Of Multiple Methods And Datasets: Cases From The Loan Credit Scoring Domain, Jozef Zurada, Niki Kunene, Jian Guan Jan 2014

The Classification Performance Of Multiple Methods And Datasets: Cases From The Loan Credit Scoring Domain, Jozef Zurada, Niki Kunene, Jian Guan

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Decisions to extend credit to potential customers are complex, risky and even potentially catastrophic for the credit granting institution and the broader economy as underscored by credit failures in the late 2000s. Thus, the ability to accurately assess the likelihood of default is an important issue. In this paper the authors contrast the classification accuracy of multiple computational intelligence methods using five datasets obtained from five different decision contexts in the real world. The methods considered are: logistic regression (LR), neural network (NN), radial basis function neural network (RBFNN), support vector machine (SVM), k-nearest neighbor (kNN), and decision tree (DT). …

Government Financial Management, Strategy For Preventing Corruption In Indonesia, Haryono Umar

The South East Asian Journal of Management

In popular view, the term accountability generally refers to a wide spectrum of public expectations dealing with organizational performance, responsiveness, good governance, and even morality of government and nonprofit organizations. These expectations often include implicit performance criteria – related to obligations and responsibilities – that are subjectively interpreted and sometimes even contradictory. And in this broader conception of accountability, the range of people and institutions to whom public and nonprofit organizations must account include not only higher authorities in the institutional chain of command but also the general public, the news media, peer agencies, donors, and many other stakeholders (Kearns, …

Managing Virtual Team Performance: An Exploratory Study Of Social Loafing And Social Comparison, Limin Zhang, Fang Chen, Joseph Latimer

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

This study investigates the effects of social comparison and social loafing on virtual team performance when teams engage in asynchronous ideation process. The results of the study suggest that the effects of social comparison and social loafing co-exist in virtual teams. Team members may choose to engage in different behaviors (social loafing vs. social comparison) in different team interactions. Furthermore, team members tend to elaborate on the ideas generated by co-workers. As a result, teams with less social loafing will produce richer elaboration on ideas generated.

Performance Impacts Of Extent Of Information Technology Usage, Adam S. Maiga, Fred A. Jacobs

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

The link between IT investment and firm performance is indirect due to the effect of moderating variables. Employing a sample of 589 manufacturing firms based in the U.S., building on resource- and knowledge-based theories and the marketing literature, we use structural equation modeling to investigate the relationship between firm extent of IT usage, knowledge acquisition from customers and suppliers, competitive advantage and firm financial performance. Our results indicate that firm extent of IT usage positively impacts both knowledge from both customers and suppliers, which positively affect firm competitive advantage that, in turn, positively impacts firm financial performance. Further, our results …

It Alignment With Business Strategies In Healthcare Organizations: An Empirical Analysis, Zach G. Zacharia, David S. Preston, Chad W. Autry, Charles W. Lamb

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

This paper describes a study that assessed the performance implications of aligning information technology (IT) strategy to overall business strategy across a variety of health care organization (HCO) structures. We obtained survey results from senior executives of 178 hospitals to identify key configurations of IT strategic practices, business strategy and HCO structures. Using K- means cluster analysis, we identified which business strategies correlate strongly with certain IT strategy types. Our results indicate that HCOs achieve superior performance through unique combinations of business and IT strategy, suggesting that correctly aligning these strategies is a critical decision for healthcare organizations.

Using System Dynamics Approach To Construct A Performance Measurement Model For Pharmacy Supply Chain Management, Jiinpo Wu, Charlie C. Chen, Ray Tsai Jan 2006

Using System Dynamics Approach To Construct A Performance Measurement Model For Pharmacy Supply Chain Management, Jiinpo Wu, Charlie C. Chen, Ray Tsai

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

A credible performance measurement system is imperative to evaluate SCM systems effectiveness. However, commonly accepted measurements for evaluating pharmacy supply chain management (SCM) are yet to be developed. This study models the dynamic behavior of pharmacy supply chains to include managerial policies and performance measuring systems based on a well-established theoretical framework. The system dynamics methodology is adopted to simulate three scenarios: (1) demand forecasting policy, (2) market need, and (3) manufacturing errors. Simulation results lead to important policy implications of pharmacy SCM.

The Impacts Of Conflicts On Requirements Uncertainty And Project Performance, Houn-Gee Chen, James J. Jiang, Jun-Cheng Chen, J T. Shim Jan 2004

The Impacts Of Conflicts On Requirements Uncertainty And Project Performance, Houn-Gee Chen, James J. Jiang, Jun-Cheng Chen, J T. Shim

Journal of International Technology and Information Management

Conflict is a pervasive phenomenon that permeates information systems development and implementation. The literature has indicated that conflicts, due to their association with negative emotion, will negatively influence IS project development, even after controlling for the effects of conflict management and resolution; however, the negative emotional characteristic of conflict alone has a limited explanatory power of IS project success. The purpose of this study is to provide additional insight, by including requirement uncertainty as the mediator variable, of the impacts of conflicts on project performance. Surveys were sent to Taiwan’s top 1600 companies and the results support the hypotheses. The …
