Das vorliegende Dokument leitet eine Fallstudienmethodik für die Erstellung von Forschungs- und Lehrfallstudien im Business Engineering und in verwandten Themenstellungen ab.Es empfiehlt einen Multi-Case-Ansatz mit der Betrachtung aller Ebenen des Business Engineering und leitet dafür Struktur und Vorgehen ab. Dabei wird auch die (Zweit-)Verwendung von Forschungsfallstudien in der universitären Lehre berücksichtigt.Der Arbeitsbericht dient als Kochbuch, das Module auf unterschiedlichen Abstraktionsebenen bereitstellt und mit umfangreichen Beispielen, die in einer Fallstudien-Datenbank festgehalten sind, illustriert.

Systems analysts and managers involved in planning for computer systems deployment and upgrades often require an estimate of future component performance. With a focus on processors used in desktop systems, this paper examines how long run technical trends, such as expressed in Moore's Law, can be used to predict future computing performance. historical data on the number of transistors and clock speeds were collected for Intel microprocessors beginning with their introduction in 1971. The data show that Moore's Law significantly overestimates long-term development which has been increasing but at a decreasing rate. results of experiments with other prediction equations are …

The significance of aligning IT with corporate strategy is widely recognized, but the lack of appropriate methodologies prevented practitioners from integrating IT projects with competitive strategies effectively. This article addresses the issue of deploying Web services strategically using the concept of a widely accepted management tool, the balanced scorecard. A framework is developed to match potential benefits of Web services with corporate strategy in four business dimensions: innovation and learning, internal business process, customer, and financial.
