Libraries at colleges and universities provide a challenging environment for the practice of human resource (HR) administration. The dynamics and structure of the academic library within the higher education community create complex environments for the library administrator attempting to navigate the myriad rules and regulations (state, federal, and institutional) that affect staff recruiting, hiring, processing, compensating, and related functions for library personnel.
