Doctor Northrop, of New York City, was elected fifteenth president of the Association at the 1875 meeting at Niagara Falls. A considerable part of this meeting and the next was devoted to papers and discussions on the health of the dentist. Many dentists believed that dentistry was a particularly exhausting profession. Doctor Northrop was the first president of the First District Dental Society of New York and first president of the New York Odontological Society.
