ELE would like to recruit members to create a 5-week cohort to experience semi-synchronous collaborative learning. As learning professionals, we’re faced with a largely new landscape and increasing demand for our work, as organizations begin to see why learning is now a business imperative. The Leading L&D Program by Nomadic Learning explores these changes and offers tools for developing new strategies that align with what both employees and organizations need to thrive. In the Leading L&D program, learners will get hands-on, practical guidance and time-tested wisdom from peers, and will explore together:
- What is the benefit of learning in cohorts …

I Learned From A Struggling Student, And You Can Too., Richard D. Busby
Publications & Research
Themes:
- A learner’s ability to articulate their own learning struggle is a skill worth developing
- A learning leader’s ability to facilitate the discussion to articulate specific learning obstacles is essential
- Specificity about “the problem” mitigates the risk of a “poor solution” being implemented
The article presents a case example of insights from a student, then describes three observations about education/learning systems:
- Consider Content Complexity vs Pace of Change
- Be precise about assessing the defining the specific gap between expected performance and current performance
- Differentiate problems "learning" from problems with the "learning solution"
- Analyze the learning system (diagram included)
The article …

Education professionals are concerned about quality of the education our youth receive. Corporations are concerned about having a prepared, skilled workforce as we face a sweeping digital transformation. Impact metrics vary, but there are clear themes about concerns of the emerging generation of workers (“will a robot take my job?”) and skills gaps. While corporate HR leans in on innovative recruiting, “upskilling” and “reskilling” initiatives, the opportunity for students is “Broadskilling” (i.e. career awareness, entrepreneurship, soft skills, adaptability, learning to learn, and befriending technology). Let’s engage in a practical discussion based on current data and share our experiences and stories.

09. Group Dynamics, Illinois Mathematics And Science Academy
CORE
The Group Dynamics module focuses on informing students about inter/intra group interactions, while also demonstrating the role of an individual within a group. As individuals become a part of a group, they lose a certain distinction between their personal identity and their group personality, or prototype. Individuals become part of a social categorization and comparison, and require the skills of empathy and relations to successfully communicate with not only their ingroup, but also their outgroup. An absence of awareness of the feelings around them can develop the negative effects of groupthink, as individual ideas are unheard. As fitting into the …
