mHealth (healthcare using mobile wireless technologies) has the potential to improve healthcare and the quality of life for elderly and chronic patients. Many studies from all over the world have addressed this issue in view of the aging population in many countries. However, there has been a lack of any consolidated evidence-based study to classify mHealth from the dual perspectives of healthcare and technology. This paper reports the results of an evidence-based study of mHealth solutions for chronic care amongst the elderly population and proposes a taxonomy of a broad range of mHealth solutions from the perspective of technological complexity. …

An Investigation Of The Appropriation Of Technology-Mediated Training Methods Incorporating Enactive And Collaborative Learning, Saurabh Gupta, Robert Bostrom

The growth in the application of information technology to student and employee learning underscores the need to understand the impact of Technology-Mediated Learning (TML) methods. Using previous developed TML models, based on Social Cognitive Theory and Adaptive Structuration Meta-Theory, the effectiveness of three training methods were examined in this study: technology-mediated (using both vicarious and enactive learning), collaborative and combined (collaborative plus technology-mediated). The study also focused on the learning process. The experimental study results showed a significant positive influence of enactive learning enabled TML and collaborative training on specific training outcomes while the combined training method shows positive results …

Electronic Marketplace: A Distinct Platform For Business-To-Business (B-To- B) Procurement, Dothang Truong

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine whether buyers perceive different electronic marketplaces (EMs) as distinct types of procurement platforms. More specifically, it empirically investigates to what extent professional buyers expect different benefits from different EM types and perceive different barriers associated with their usage.

Methodology: A Web-based survey of purchasing professionals in the United States was conducted with 359 responses received. A multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) was performed to determine if there are significant differences between EM types with respect to expected benefits (market aggregation and inter-firm collaboration) and perceived barriers (financial risks and trust barriers). …
