Towards An Effective Design Of The Business Intelligence & Analytics Function Within An Organisation, Eric Sandosham Oct 2017

Towards An Effective Design Of The Business Intelligence & Analytics Function Within An Organisation, Eric Sandosham

Dissertations and Theses Collection

This dissertation is about the organisational considerations in setting up a successful business intelligence and analytics (BI&A) function. It addresses a gap in academic literature by presenting a theoretical framework on organisational attributes that impacts the BI&A function’s ability to improve the completeness and relevance of their data-driven solutions.

BI&A is a subset of information processing, and as such, subject to the phenomenon of uncertainty and equivocality. Most BI&A functions do not explicitly address this phenomenon in their organisation design, leading to suboptimal BI&A outcomes as widely publicised in both academic and practice literature.

This dissertation contributes to theory by …

Modeling The Consumer Acceptance Of Retail Service Robots, So Young Song

Doctoral Dissertations

This study uses the Computers Are Social Actors (CASA) and domestication theories as the underlying framework of an acceptance model of retail service robots (RSRs). The model illustrates the relationships among facilitators, attitudes toward Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), anxiety toward robots, anticipated service quality, and the acceptance of RSRs. Specifically, the researcher investigates the extent to which the facilitators of usefulness, social capability, the appearance of RSRs, and the attitudes toward HRI affect acceptance and increase the anticipation of service quality. The researcher also tests the inhibiting role of pre-existing anxiety toward robots on the relationship between these facilitators and attitudes …

All Theses And Dissertations

Organizations are drowning in data and struggling to turn disparate facts into useful information. Never before has so much data been available for users to leverage to make a decision. Data-driven metrics can help teams make informed decisions and provide a competitive advantage. When it comes to using data to answer business questions and make a data-driven decision, technology is only one part of the solution. Business Intelligence (BI) is a discipline that attempts to turn data into meaningful insights in …

Leadership Style And Employee Turnover A Mythical Relationship Or Reality?, Arwa Alkhawaja Jun 2017

Leadership Style And Employee Turnover A Mythical Relationship Or Reality?, Arwa Alkhawaja

M.A. in Leadership Studies: Capstone Project Papers

Abstract

Employee turnover is one of the most challenging dilemmas organizations have to deal with. A considerable amount of research indicates that turnover is mainly a result of a negative relationship between the leaders and managers in the workplace and their followers. However, seemingly conflicting studies seem to show that employees leave bosses they consider to be good at nearly the same rate as bosses they consider to be bad. If the relationship between the leadership and followers is not the sole factor in an employee’s decision to quit working, what other factors could be the main causes for employee’s …

Brand Hate And Brand Forgiveness - A Dynamic Analysis, Alexandra Sampedro

Honors Program Theses

Purpose – Despite the vast research regarding customer brand relationships, and the positive feelings towards brand, there is little research on negative feelings towards brand. Bush’s 2001 enactment of No Child Left Behind, and the shortcomings of the financial literacy programming that found traction in urban schools following the subprime …

Predicting Yelp Food Establishment Ratings Based On Business Attributes, Peter Mark Shellenberger Jr. Jan 2017

Predicting Yelp Food Establishment Ratings Based On Business Attributes, Peter Mark Shellenberger Jr.

Honors Theses and Capstones

Social networking and business review sites play an integral role in the buying behavior of the modern consumer. An individual with access to the internet may observe millions of reviews on almost every type of product and service on the market. Websites such as Angie’s List, Facebook, Yellow Pages, and Yelp all facilitate this process, acting as crowd-sourced hubs for review data. This has major implications for the modern business, as past research shows that reviews and ratings play a direct role on the demand a business receives. With the vast dissemination of review data to the potential buyer market, …
