This thesis is a collection of accounting case studies completed during the 2020-2021 academic school year. Each case was assigned and reviewed by Dr. Victoria Dickinson in her honors independent study class. There are twelve cases that comprise this thesis including A Tale of Two Cities, Asset Concepts, Presidential Debate, Excel Course, Taxodus – Playing The Global Tax Avoidance Game, Business Interview, Case Competition – Earnings, Stock Price, and Analysis, and Financial Crisis of 2008. This accounting thesis includes multiple case studies on the topics of accounting principles, uses, and concepts. Throughout two semesters, research and contemplation have been conducted on various topics relating to accountancy. Case studies were conducted using different methods. Some were completed within a group, and the others were completed on their own. The methods were to reflect and enhance group work and conversation, as the accounting profession is a very social career.

This thesis focuses on different case studies that have to do with the field of accounting. All of the cases that are represented here relate to the field of financial accounting. Several of these cases were having to analyze either a company’s 401k or receiving an audit or tax accounting situation and having to answer questions about it. Accounting majors in the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College have the opportunity to take two classes during their junior year with Dr. Vicki Dickinson that consist of twelve different case studies. The following thesis provides twelve solutions to case studies on various financial accounting standards. These standards are in agreement with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as set forth by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).
