This article will assess the roles and responsibilities of Special Operations Forces (SOF) within the newly created U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) as an active proponent of a so-called “smart power” national security strategy. In particular, it will outline the economic, political, and military challenges faced in Africa; specifically, how and why SOCAFRICA is the U.S. force of choice for promoting human rights and rule of law in Africa. Before 1800, Ajaokuta which is on the Niger River South of the Niger Benue confluence area had already evolved elaborate organizational structures based on clans and lineages. By the 1800’s European explorers and traders became increasingly involved in the affair of the Niger region, particularly as it affected economic activities. Upto the second half of the 19th century the Attah’s representatives on the Niger controlled trade on his behalf. The 1937 International Sugar Agreement: Neo-Colonial Cuba And Economic Aspects Of The League Of Nations, Michael Fakhri

To many in the West, the League of Nations was to establish political peace between nations. To the Cuban sugar-producing elite of the 1920s and 1930s, however, the League was an important socioeconomic institution used to augment many of Cuba’s first modern state institutions. This article explores how and why Cuban delegates were the principals behind the 1937 International Sugar Agreement – one of the League’s few operational economic treaties. This treaty sheds light onto how actors from the so-called industrial core and agricultural periphery used international law, institutions, and practice to negotiate and renegotiate their relationship with each other.

The Term Ebira is synonymous with behaviour and character. It may either be good or bad. The Latent and manifest meaning of Ebira is good behavior, according to Yaqub (1999), the Ebira person was known to be hospitable, loving, caring, responsible, lawful, resourceful etc. The decay in the people’s social, political behaviour in recent time has put them at a crossroad, thus, demeaning its name Ebira (good character). The legacies of ideal virtues bequeathed to the people by their forefathers have been eroded by lack of dedication, commitment and centralized command structure which is the crux of the paper.

İki bölümden oluşan bu çalışmanın giriş kısmında devletin yönetim kadrosunda yer alanların nüfusun attırılması ihtiyacı ile ilgili görüşlerine yer verilmektedir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde 1923-1950 döneminde Türkiye’de nüfusu arttırmak için yapılan doğrudan ya da dolaylı yasal düzenlemeler ve gösterilen çabalar ele alınmaktadır. Bunların belli başlı olanlarını şu şekilde sıralamak mümkündür: 18 Mart 1926 tarihli Memurlar kanunu. The establishment of Lokoja as the Headquarters of the protectorate of Northern Nigeria in 1900 was the height of European imperialism in Nigeria. This culminated into the creation of a cantonment for both Europeans and civilian non – indigene settlers, thereby engendering cluster of settlements otherwise called ‘Angwas’ (Quarters). The interactions and cooperation amongst the various inter – groups in Lokoja made the town a multi - ethnic one with features like conflict, hostility, domination of migrant groups, indigeneship and citizenshipt. Üç bölümden oluşan bu yazının konusu Atatürk’ün Türk çiftçisine öncülük ve önderlik etmek amacıyla kurduğu çiftlikler ve bunların hazineye devredilmesidir. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde ilki 1925’te kuruluşuna başlanan Atatürk Orman Çiftliği olmak üzere Atatürk’ün Anadolu’nun çeşitli yerlerinde kurduğu çiftlikler ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde çiftliklerin kuruluş amaçlarına ulaştıktan sonra bunların nasıl hazineye devredildiklerinden bahsedilmektedir. Üçüncü bölümde Atatürk’ün hazineye bağışladığı çiftlikler de dahil olmak üzere Devlet Üretme Çiftlikleri’nin daha iyi idare edilmesi için yapılan yasal düzenlemeler değerlendirilmektedir.
