Attached (Click on "Additional Files" below) is full text scan of a diary kept by Hayes from 1864 to 1865 and titled "My Leisure Moments to Belle McCullough." This diary is found in Box 3, Folder 4 of the collection.

The letters concern courtship and everyday matters. Mr. Bryant is a carpenter working on building projects in Louisville; he obviously has gone to find temporary work because of the lack of projects in his home county.
