On Wednesday, April 4, from 12:00 – 5:00 pm, join Evelyn Wang '19, Museum Store Associate, and Sean Fuller, Store and Publications Manager, for a zine making workshop focusing on the history of zines. Participants will learn two zine making methods: a simple one-page zine and a fold and staple pamphlet style. All materials will be provided.

Each year the MDOCS Storytellers’ Institute celebrates documentary work and practice around a centralized theme. For the inaugural Institute in 2015 we explored whose stories get told, delving into family and storytelling. In 2016, the Institute considered what constitutes documentary, considering the lines between fact and fiction. For the third Institute in June 2017, MDOCS invited documentary creators whose work engages with the where of documentary, the operation of SPACE & PLACE.

The Ethics Bowl is soon to be a required seminar for students taking MDOCS and Media & Film Studies production courses. This training session tackled issues facing today's non-fiction storytellers. The session included lectures by faculty members Scott Mulligan, Beck Krefting (Media & Film Studies), and Jordana Dym (MDOCS) providing tips followed by an activity in which attendees grappled with a real-world cases to discuss solutions.

A multi-disciplinary activist and self-described hobo filmmaker and phototramp, Daniel offers reporting from the margins in a film screening and pop-up exhibit, and lessons on how to build your own vision and opportunities with a workshop on DIY Touring & Exhibition Strategies for Visual and Media Artists.

Eileen McAdam offered an introduction to the work of audio storytelling: the collecting, processing, and preserving of cherished stories using the latest digital equipment.
