Richard Cassidy's latest book builds on some of the previous work he has done regarding the socio-political background of Luke/Acts, but now he applies his historical investigation into the policies of Roman authorities —as enacted toward Christians around the turn of the first century CE —to an understanding of various motifs and emphases in the Gospel of John. On Following Jesus, Paul N. Anderson

Faculty Publications - George Fox School of Theology

Excerpt: "Some Christian groups ask, "How can we be certain of our salvation?" Others ask, "How can we be sure we are right?" Still others ask, "How can we do good in the world?" The Quaker question, however, is, "How can we be, most radically and effectively, true followers of Jesus?" Interestingly, when this question is lived faithfully, the others tend to take care of themselves."

Transforming Worship, Paul N. Anderson

Excerpt: "Transforming worship is both impressive and expressive. As we receive God's love for us and return our love for God, we find ourselves changed, transformed, renewed from the inside out. New insights help us live in the newness of life. Greater sensitivities emerge as we come to view those around us through the eyes of Jesus. We receive power to overcome life's obstacles and temptations. All things indeed become new, and creation even takes on another smell."

Evangelical Quakers attempt great things for God because we continually ask the question: 'What would God have us do?" And a great deal gets done because people earnestly desire to follow God's leadings and further His work in the world. That's an inspiration!"

Excerpt: "He grieved her loss. Without a word, she'd walked out on him after eight years of marriage. He didn't even have a clue that the relationship had been growing intolerable for her. Sure, they had their problems, but didn't all relationships? It just caught him totally unaware, and now there was nothing he could do to retrieve, let alone rebuild the relationship. The way she left had not only put an end to what had been, but he felt it also closed the door to future possibilities. Her "No!" was final. Their future was nil. The investments they'd made …
