Reaching The 'Ignorant' Is Gay Challenge, Steven G. Bull

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Common Sense Choices, The Maine Campus

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

The Maine Gay Symposium has passed without incident, but the University of Maine Board of Trustees is not out of the frying pan yet. The Trustees have tempted the flames of public opinion by standing up for rights of free speech and assembly, but indications are they may jump into the fire of indignant student wrath by tampering with our rights of representation in two crucial decisions.

A team of four campus policemen guarded the affair which was sponsored by the Wilde-Stein Club, UMO's gay group.

Gay Symposium Guests May Face Housing Problems, Kate Arno

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

Despite loud dissent from a number of residents, Somerset Hall has been the most responsive Hilltop dorm to a need for housing for guests attending the Maine Gay Symposium on campus this weekend. Members of the campus Wilde-Stein Club, hosts for the statewide convention, could not get space for weekend guests at Augusta Hall on the Bangor campus where accommodations are usually made for those attending conventions at the university. The Other Side Of The Bible Battle…From Rev. Robert Gass, Robert Gass

Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

What a paradox! After likening fundamental preachers to such things as "two-bit Latin American dictators," "Theological perverts," religious witch hunters who merchandise the Gospel for profit and preach an "upside-down gospel" of fear and hatred and finally suggesting that we missed our true calling since we should be planting corn instead of preaching Christ, the Rev. Walter Thompson goes on to say that what we all need is more love and less of a spirit of judgement.
