New Premises For Planning In Appalachia, Richard A. Ball
New Premises For Planning In Appalachia, Richard A. Ball
The Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare
The Appalachian Region, particularly Southern Appalachia, has lived through several hundred years of frustration related to its history and geography. The history of the area has become better known during recent years, and it is a history of documented exploitation and socioeconomic disillusionment, a "biography of a depressed area" (Caudill, 1962). Geographically, the region has been regarded essentially as a barrier between the settled East and the fertile lands of the West, a place of rugged terrain and harsh conditions of life. This history and geography have played a large part in the problems which now afflict region and which …
Bach's B Minor Flute Sonata: A Study Of Six Recorded Interpretations, Edwin F. Sabrack Jr.
Bach's B Minor Flute Sonata: A Study Of Six Recorded Interpretations, Edwin F. Sabrack Jr.
Masters Theses
The lack of knowledge and understanding of the performance practice of the early eighteenth century can lead to faulty and ill-conceived ideas regarding the interpretation of Bach's flute
sonatas. Problems of tempo, articulation, phrasing, dynamics, and ornamentation can overwhelm the student approaching these works for the first time. Luckily, the great flutists of our time have

Anti-Catholicism In The 1920'S And Al Smith, Michael Alfonso Reynolds
Honors Theses
The origin of this project stems from an episode in the life of my maternal grandfather. An Italian immigrant in a small Michigan community, he found his religion and ethnic origin were a handicap in business and society. In 1927, the local Ku Klux Klan ordered him to close his grocery store and c encouraged him to leave town. His reply was emphatically negative. By chance, a short time later, he heard the Klan had planned a rally to take place on the outskirts of town. After packing his Ford with his children and his pocket with his gun, he …
