Systematic Observation For Design Implementation: Exploring Children’S Cognitive Play Behavior Interaction In Natural, Mixed, Or Manufactured Behavior Settings, Zahra Zamani
Zahra Zamani
Many disciplines are currently exploring how physical environment attributes associate with children’s developmental behaviors. However, there is a lack of evidence-based design guidelines to amplify the play value of outdoor preschool settings. This study compared three types of behavior settings (natural, mixed, and manufactured) for their cognitive play behavior opportunities (functional, constructive, exploratory, dramatic, and games with rules). Interacting with natural environments during childhood can impact children’s mental and physical well being. Comprehending children’s environmental orientation is a significant topic as their chance for contact with nature is decreasing. In this research, natural environments are considered as spaces that incorporate a variety of trees and vegetation that are free of human control, or part of human’s manipulation (such as in zoo, park, gardens, etc.). However, urbanized conditions and lifestyles have limited children’s daily contact opportunities with natural environments. This disconnection with nature is defined as “natural deficit disorder” (Louv, 2005), which can impact children’s knowledge, environmental orientation and …

The spatial distribution of banks in any geographic entity determines the level of accessibility to its services by the public. This study examined the pattern of banks distribution in Ilorin metropolis. Field survey was employed in determining the number of available commercial banks and their respective distances between each other. The spatial analysis technique such as the nearest neighbour analysis as used ascertain the degree of clustering, density and the average distance taken to access these services. The study revealed that about 96% of the total number of banks are situated in the Central Business District which exhibited a very …
