The objective of this study was to describe the histological and immunohistochemical aspects of vomeronasal organ in two groups of (normal and pathological) embryos and fetuses, with chromosomal morphological abnormalities. Methods. The research was based on a retrospective, descriptive analysis, carried out over a period of 5 years. The study included 46 biopsy fragments taken from aborted embryos and fetuses aged between 9 and 23 weeks. The mind (mental function) and sexuality represent two distinct environmental functions, but which are supported within the brain by a common (somatic-autonomic) neurobiological substrate. As a consequence, mental function takes on autonomic characteristics from the sexual-autonomic system (like autonomy, duality), while sexual function takes on features from mental functioning (such as lateralization). In this paper we discuss the lateralized action of two classes of sexual neuromodulators: hormones and pheromones.
